Unhappy My Clutch Pedal Snapped While Driving!

I know you guys will not believe me but yes it did happen. My SC300 is a '92, with 181K on it. It has been literally perfect until all of a sudden BOOM. I was at a stop sign and for some reason, my clutch was stuck, while i was trying to get into first gear. i kept stepping on it but nothing. So then i pulled on it slightly with my hand and the entire Clutch pedal snapped and fell out. Yup my foot broke some piece of iron in half. Yup IRON, broke in half.

It broke at the hole where the pedal holds the clutch cable. Has anyone ever had a problem like this?? I went to Lexus to get a new pedal and it will take 2-4 weeks cuz its from japan. HELP HELP??? Should i get it rewelded? i will take any suggestions from anyone. Its my daily driver

i will post up pix of the problem tomorrow.

i'd try to find another used pedal and just replace that... you can find one from http://www.car-part.com

find someone with a pedalbox assembly or a couple SC3s just layin around and buy one from them

welding iron isn't a great idea; it hurts the strength of it severely... and its already been destabilized by it breaking in half

While you are ordering the part, you had better find out why the pedal snapped. Otherwise, your doing nothing to solve the problem.

exactly....
there is a deeper problem.
Are you saying this is the ORIGINAL clutch assembly? If so, I think its well overdue for a clutch job and all it entails....just do not go to Pep Boys or some 'chain'.

thanx for the help guys. I think it might be an old clutch. Heavy pressure on the pivot point of the clutch pedal. The pivot hole is also right by the edge of the pedal... so im guessing wear and tear after a while.

here are the pix
