Me too, if I can afford the car I can afford to put in what it recommends.

Remember the computer is designed for the higher octane fuel, using lower octane gas probably won't hurt it, but why lose the performance?

Anyway-

87 will ignite prematurely in the engine designed for 93 gasoline, thus diminishing cylinder travel and negatively affecting performance… Well, if it says premium ONLY, I guess it is not there for nothing… and then I’ve seen cars where it says “premium recommended”… I think in the long term you’ll harm the engine with 87, especially while driving aggressively..

does anyone find it funny that we can debate the virtues of whether Lexus engineers intended motors to run with 87 or 92 gas, yet alot of this forum is dedicated to changing critical suspension, brake, electrical, and induction systems that the engineers put 10times more thought and accuracy into.

hillarious!

can someone start a thread on which oil to use!

personally i only use 92/93...i have to agree, i'm sure they put premium gas only on there for a reason. also, the 92/93 here (harrisburg pa) has gotten down to 1.52...pretty good if you ask me! what about everywhere else?

93 octane is bit a bit higher here than yours. I'm paying about $1.69 at chevron. Its probably cheaper in orlando than where I am now (Tampa).

Cali gets screwed, up until recently we were paying nearly $2.10 for Premium dino-fuel.

I always put in the best that I can get, and I always fill up. I also put in Chevron Techron every oil change. However, my ex's dad has a Chrysler 300M and it says to put nothing but regular in it even though he has put premium in every vehicle but that one. Any logic to that?

most places here in so. cal are around 2.10-2.20 for premium and thats only 91 here . . . i get it for 1.89 at cosco but it isn't the best gas, probably equal to arco gas, is that bad? someone told me it will rust the fuel injectors if i use it long enough . . .

Here in Hawai`i Chevron 92 is at $2.10-$2-17... still On my other car - GMC I just use the low grade 87 and make sure I throw in a carb cleaner in the gas every couple months to clean out the crap.
