Default A couple of options

Wassup guys, as some of u know, I'm in the matter for another sc. It just so happens that I've found 3 that I like. Now I have to choose 1 of the 3. Here r my options ; (all 3 are red) 96 sc400, w/ 127,069mi, $3,999, or 99 sc300, w/137,401, $5,623, or 95 sc400, w/180,785, $3,000. I know the 300 has the 2jzgte vvti, whereas the 400 has the 1uzfe. Would anyone care to weigh in on pros and cons ? Thanks

How important is price to you, and what are your plans?

Also what is the repair history like on each of the 3?

Price isn't too important considering its gonna sit tucked away for awhile. I do want to build something better than my current. All 3 had good records on carfax but how accurate is that info.? There was regular service maintenance done but nothing major done on any of them.

By build what do you mean?
Engine swap? Forced Induction? Show?

You should choose whichever platform will be the least work for you to enact your vision, or if it all will be the same work in the case of an engine swap, you should choose the one thats either the cheapest or has the suspension/body/interior in the best shape.

You get that '99 SC300 without flinching. All you'll want to do down the road is upgrade the body to a 97+ which will lead to another grand with paint. The parts will be newer as the vehicle isn't aged like the other options. Yes, 1999 was a long effing time ago and the plastic, rubber, and metal is deteriorating on our vehicles every minute. However, you'll find the 2JZ a very simple engine to work on (yes, I said it...shoot me). God forbid you have to handle a timing belt or starter replacement in the 1UZ. You would end up swapping engines or selling the car before handling either of those.

It's your money and decision, but from the questions you've been asking, the 300 is a better option for you.

I currently have a 96 sc400 that was built last year. Due to registration issues, I didn't make any shows. It has the 2jzgte swap, custom interior/exterior. It's stock now, but I'm about to change my fuel rails, replace the tt with a bigger single, and I'm also about to upgrade the transmission to a rebuilt racing transmission.

I agree with tabaka on getting the 99', who doesn't like an updated interior/exterior and VVTI?
But in my opinion how each car has been maintained and what condition it's in should play the biggest role in deciding. In for more pics of your sc though

Neither job is difficult to the level you make it out to be.
