Hello! Cloth seats/slick top/5spd 93
Hello!
This is my first post, but have been reading and researching through CL for about a year now and thought I'd introduce myself. What an awesome forum of peeps.!
After owning a 400 and aspirations of doing a w58 swap I realized the time and hassle just wasn't in the cards for me.
I just picked up a super clean 93 slicktop SC300 (pics to come soon!) that has no sunroof and the cloth herringbone seats - also a 5spd. Maintenance records from day 1. I feel like this combo is super rare. Does anyone have any idea how many USDMs got the cloth interior or if any other members out there have this combo?

I've never even heard of SC300's coming with cloth seats. I am betting my money that the owner swapped them with Soarer seats that you can find on eBay, forums, and Japanese auction sites.
However, no sunroof and 5spd is definitely a rare combo but you already know that.

No, USDM SC300/SC400s did come with tan cloth seats this was the "non luxury package" or base package if you have a hardtop it means the car originally came with cloth seats and it was not a swap, all SCs with original cloth seats came hardtop hence base package. I have also ONLY seen the hardtops and cloth seats in WHITE SC300 and WHITE SC400 and only year 1992. I also believe I have seen somebody post their SC on here that was the early year red. The car you have is RARE being a 5 Speed on top of hardtop and I would advise to leave it STOCK and restore it because it will lose value once you modify it

It so happens I have a 1992 slick top 5-speed cloth interior I picked up last month. I've looked and looked for numbers and the closest information that's publicly available is the production numbers for the Sc300/400 and whether it was manual or auto. So, manuals are already pretty rare, hard tops are impossibly hard to find, and cloth seats leave a lot of Lexus enthusiasts scratching their heads because they didn't know it was an option!
Any mods I'm doing to mine are going to be very modest and reversible. I'm working on getting her in better mechanical and cosmetic shape above all. Congrats on your new SC dude! That's an awesome find, and I agree as I've also been amazed at the expertise and help that's available on this forum.
