Post contoured radio filler panel

Here's something I wish I had seen a year ago when installing my aftermarket sound system. It would have saved me a few hours and some cutting wheels. From the picture it looks like they have the contour nailed down pretty good. For those of us who have done this, we know how hard it is to match the taper of the 2.5 din opening at the bottom, not to mention the way it swells out to meet the console. Anyone bought this item? Seems fairly inexpensive at $39 a pop, and I will probably order one up unless anyone here has had a poor experience with it.

Here's where you can find it:

I've been looking for that for a while- Thanks for the link!

Too bad they have to be textured though. I wish it was a factory match.

If I remember right, there was a textured or smooth finish available. Definitely a HOT item imo.
THanks Em!

hmmmm so how this insert work, do you insert it first then cut inside for after market Head Unit?

Is this work just like installation kit? I've looking for the installation kit for a while if this work it would be awsome!!

thanks

The idea is pretty cool, but that sand texture is nasty and cheap. ABS doesn't polish well so i'd be interested to see how they molded a smooth kit.

Ouch? It's still the best idea since sliced bread! I've been a smooth abs type of person all my life simply because the sand texture reminds me of a chevrolet. I just like the smooth molded non-texture kits for personal choice. it's still a gold mine textured or not.

The smooth ones sold out first,so the information was removed from the site until new ones come in.

The picture of the full silver dash is of my car (Smooth textured)

You install this in the place where the factory radio is, but you cut a hole in it to allow for an aftermarket unit to be mounted. Have you tried to install an aftermarket head unit before, if so, you know exactly what this kit does.

Its supposed to keep a factory look for that big 2.5 DIN hole. Its really just a faceplate.

I spoke to Alex at Preferred Image Motoring Products, and he said the smooth units were sold out early last week. At this time the wait is close to 3 weeks for smooth finished models to come in. I put my order on back order to wait for the smooth models.

Sorry, Em, but the textured ones do look kinda cheap. It looks like a in dash install kit thats $9 at the local stereo shop for Hondas. Thats probably why the smooth ones sold out so quick.

Anyway- hope this helps.

Keith

Do you think this could be used with a cut out up top for an after-market stereo and then a cut out in the bottom for an S-AFC?
Anyone tried this?
