My dad got my SC300 right before my 16th b-day. It is a great car and I will never get rid of it. I would recommend the SC3 over the SC4 b/c there is more you can do to the engine easier (since the 2JZ is the same in the Supra). Also, the insurance would be a lil cheaper, and the cars look identical (esp. if you get the rear spoiler)

Dare I say, a good alternative, but less exotic, would be a Mustang GT convert.
Insurance in most, if not all states, will run more lots more for the Mustang GT Convertible rather than the Lexus SC. My insurance company, Farmers Insurance Group, considers the SC400 "luxury performance", rather than any Mustang (regardless of model) as simply "performance." They also look at the demographics of who will be purchasing the vehicles to determine rates. I.E. Mom and Dad would be more likely to purchase a Mustang for their sonny or darlin angel than would they an SC.

Question

Aerostar. At my school my friends don't seem to like the SCes at all. Some like the SC 430, but not the first generation. I know when I was first into Lexus I wanted the GS 400 then the LS 400 and finally the SC 400. When I wanted the GS and LS I never even thought about the SC as a possible car to own, but now I know how good it could look and perform. Maybe my friends just don't know how to appreciate a good car. They're into M3s, Skylines, Sylvias, etc. Anyways I hope you get yours with all the options, color, and modifications that you want. Long live LEXUS

THOSE BASTARDS!! yeah, the M3's and Skylines rule, but how can highschoolers EVER afford one of those? oh yeah, I went through the same stages, except I had many more stages, for me it was:

'67 Mustang --> '95 Eclipse --> 92' 3000gt VR4 --> '99 Olds. Aurora (? ) --> 93' GS300

and then I stumbled upon the ALMIGHTY SC, and my life has never been better.

ok thanks for all your support

cya

Im 16 and my first car was a 97 ford escort station wagon, I got a really good deal on it for 400 bucks and had about 800 left to spend on it for subs and all. Anyway, my mom who had been driving her lexus sc400 95 for about 6 years started driving my car and LOVED the sub. So we decided to trade, I still thinks its funny how I am driving a lexus for 400 dollars and paying insurance on a station wagon for 90 bucks a month, AS A 16 YEAR OLD!!! I definently WIN!! Anyway I love my car, and unlike a lot of younger sc drivers, I work 30 hours a week at 7.50 per hour ( gotta love bed bath and beyond =-) ) . But anyway, I would like to know if everyone here who drives a lexus and is 16/17/18 is filthy rich, I ask this because a ton of people at my school give me **** for driving a lexus and are always like "come on man give me a dollar YOU DRIVE A LEXUS". It gets annoying pretty fast.

Default I agree

Man the looks these cars get!! I wow about 10 people everyday just by getting in the car... Everyone at work constantly mentions that I drive a lexus... so on and so forth. As a first car, I would reccomend an SC400 for anyone, but the most important thing to remember is to use the gas pedal with extreme disgression.... theres no reason to ever put it beyond half-throttle... Im 21 and if I drove my SC the same way i drove my last cars (foot always into it) id be going 90 everywhere. 0-60 in 6.9 seconds would have been a bit tempting to a 16-17 yr old me.

i'm in your situation too, im 18 and i work 30+ hours a week @ $8.50 an hour. people see my car and all that i put on it and say that i'm a rich boy that has mommy and daddy pay for everything, which isn't the case, it gets on my nerves. i've worked long and hard to pay for all my mods and repairs. and all they do is hate saying "you're a spoiled brat, and ish like that. i get all this negative attention from older people and guys, but i get the best attention from the girls , as i look back to younger people, such as guys from my high school that drive sooped up m3s, s2ks, wrx's, and audi's, or any car that's better than mine, i can't help but say that they're spoiled hehe
