daaaaaaaamn. Its like staring at the sun. From that picture it looks bright as hell. Keep up the work. One of the few SC owners that has the time, money and knowledge to open up the gauges and actually find a good fix fr them. Good luck with the project. Post details and hopefully it all works out.

this isnt anything that is actually installed onto the board. i have someone's speedo here working on the needle's and decided to fire 30 white led's into the back off of a 12v power supply. if nothing else...... it has potential. give's me wicked idea's.

Here you go guy's. i know some of you havent seen this before. (or most of you haven't). This is the LED strip that runs inside the needles. The white strip slides into the needle and is molded in. You can see the gold running down the center. that is actually 9 led's. Yes, 9. not three like some think. Enjoy the pic.

they are nice, but i'm wanting to go with led's for good reason...... i can do any or every color under the rainbow. I don't want it, but lot's do. if i can perfect it, i can tell everyone else how to also. The white is cool though. did you find what you needed in that link i gave you for ballasts?

it helped out alot but,a lot more research is needed to power these things up.
(i don't really know much about theses electronic projects)the actual specs are needed unless there is just a standard used for theses applications.

Wow, that's something serious! Hope you get something figured out with these white gauges because I'm onboard when you do!

PS: I just got my car back from the body shop today, so I'm going to get me that mutlimeter and figure out what's wrong with the dimmer switch in my cluster/cd receiver. Just a heads-up because I might be coming back to you for some consultation

Hey buddy - do you still do the needle repair? If so, please let me know...that upgrade would also be hot too!

PM me or email me founders@legendarylegendz.com

Thanks!

Last night i did the first sucessful led swapover. Using yellow/amber bright clear LT model LED's (420mcd@20ma) I have sucessfully replaced the LED"S in the needles. Shown below is the new needle. It is not as bright as the old one's but only for one reason.... i want it to last. it is however still quite bright and looks great. It just doesnt blind you like the old one's did. This one is geared for around 13 years life.

By the way, I always wanted the needle's to dim a bit, but not the cluster because they stuck out too much. it wasnt quite uniform to the console. Any opinions on me matching the LUX to the rest of the console so it all blends well?

Here guy's, I'm, goin to let you make your own mind up. on the left is the old led's full on, on the right is the new led's full on. the new one's are much brighter if i don't back them down. I took them down in the first pic two posts up with 470 ohms. that seems to be about right. The led will burn safely full on for about 4 yearsfull on, i estimate, but that is tops. i prefer to back them down and get a decade out of them. the pic below is wide open after the initial restrictions they both call for. (200 ohms minimum.)
