Our cars can take a beating
I was driving do the road late last night when a deer crossed my path and bam i hit him at 60 mph, he was a medium sized buck but suprisingly the damage was pretty minor. the front facia is cracked, headlight was shattered, windshield cracked and thats it. most carswould have been totaled but mine was not. Only thing im concerned about it that the air bag didnt go off... should't it have gone of in a impact at 60 mph?

is not only speed but also how deep into the front bumper cover it goes, by looking at the pic, I can see it didnt go deep enough into the bumper cover to activate the sensor, but I would take it and have it checked if I was you... glad to hear it came out ok, a friend basically destroy the front nose of a new focus with a 'baby' one..

Glad you didn't get an airbag, those aren't fun... and it wasn't needed for this.

a friend of mine put deer whistles on his hood to keep deer away, but he has like a 91 taurus or something. i was considering getting some and mounting them somewhere under the front end of my car to get the effectiveness of the whistle without ruining the look, and this story encourages me to try it

well yeah it is gonna be a little bit more expensive to fix it than i thought but oh well thats the insurance companies problem...hehe
I live in shelby twp. its in macomb county right next to rochester.
As for the possibility of getting a 97+ front end i guess i could ask the guy at the repair shop to order the newer front end , i dont think the insurance company would notice...

a year ago i was pulling into a parking slot, and as i was half way in the car next to me opens its driver door, and my right/front crushes her door..
only damage i got was a crack right headlight, small dent on the edge of the hood, and a crack on the bumper. not bad for 5mph. anyways, i got a 2500 dollar check later that week lol..
and im still driving around with the damage.. but replaced the light with the old 95 sc400 headlight..
so now i have one dark headlight, and one clean headlight.

This might point to a front header panel that may also need to be straitened back into place. it looks a bit more than minor.

What header panel? The part that will most likely need to be replaced, since it is very easy to tweak, is the frame which runs behind the bumper cover and bolts up into the radiator support, it is a bolt-in affair. I would definitely put it up on a unibody machine and check it though, but glad to see it took the hit so well. The newer style bumper cover will bolt right up, you might have to lay out for the grille and fog lamps if the cheque doesn't cover it, and you'll have to do a little bit of wiring, but it's easy, and since the bumper covers basically cost the same as the old style, it would be a good time to do the upgrade...
