Default Thinking about buying a 95

I currently own a 1992 LS400 with about 353,000 KM on it. A few days ago I saw a 95 SC400 forsale and just had to take it for a test drive. The SC400 has about 177,000 KM. I've noticed a few things about the SC which I've never seen on the LS. When you put it into drive it takes about 2-3 seconds to engage, I'm assuming this isn't normal in an SC ? Also when the car is floored right before it kicks down a gear you get a small pause. Hopefully it's something minor with the transmission. Also does anyone know what I should look for? I'm assuming they have some of the common problems that the LS's have as well? Like Power Steering pump leak, and climate control LCD display. Any help would be great! I'm thinking about a possible trade in this week, but I think I should let the Lexus dealer have a look at the transmission first.

Default Thinking about buying a 95

I bought a '95 SC4 four weeks ago and I've experienced almost same things with the trans. With only 40K miles on it, there is a slight delay for it to engage when putting into drive, but less than the 2-3 seconds you mentioned. (If the engine hasn't had enough time to warm up and is idling high, it feels that it goes from park to drive too "hard". Once it's warmed up, it's fine.) When the car is floored, yes, there is a small pause before it kicks down a gear. But I can live with it because of the quick excelleration and that sweet, sweet sound. Tell your dealer of your concern and have him replace the transmission fluid, especially if it hasn't had a change for a while. I plan on changing mine every 15,000 miles vs the recommended 30,000.
