removing throttle body (SC400)
Hey all -
I'm planning on cleaning out the throttle body on my SC400. I took a quick look the other day to get an idea of what steps to take and what to remove. After a few tugs here and there, it seemed as though the intake elbow coming off the throttle body is attached to the black box beneath it? If so, what is involved in removing that?
I'm cleaning the throttle body in attempt to repair a problem I've posted in the past - the engine not starting unless I have my foot in the gas, even when it's warm. I ran codes and the MAF sensor came up. I cleaned the sensor off with brake clean, and it helped drastically (now it doesn't die at stop signs and traffic lights). Immediately after I start it cold and let my foot off the gas it drops to 500rpm, if it doesn't die completely. A few people recommended cleaning the throttle body. While I don't see how it would cure this, I'm willing to give it a shot as I hear SC4's like to build up residue in the TB. I thought it might be a cold start plug, but then one would tend to think it would start fine after the engine is warm, which it doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated. When my car's sick, so am I. Thanks!!!!!
