Personally, I change my oil every 4,000 miles....I noticed if you look under your hood it says "Normal conditions: change oil every 7,000 miles harsh conditions: 4,000 miles

I think Peter Scott did a dyno and some research to see if synthetic would be a better choice for our cars...From his results, Mobil 1 was as good as any other oil out there that was non-synthetic (ex: regular Mobil oil)...He claims that as long as you are changing your oil on a regular basis (3,000 miles)..Your motor should be fine...

I change my oil every 5K miles and I think it's very reasonable.
Newer cars today like the Cadilac or bmw do not need to change oil until the light indicator goes on, and that could be 10K.

The dealerships send me notices every 5000 miles, so I change my oil between 4000-5000. I used to do 3000, but my oil was still pretty clean and I felt like it was a waste.

I change my oil every 4,00 miles using Castol Syntec ( I boycott Mobil/Exxon). I use 10w30 in the summer and 5w30 in the winter. The oil comes out not black, but much darker than when it went it.
