if i remember correctly, i read in a post somewhere that the mounting holes or wiring holes for the brake light dont match up. The spoiler still covers them but you would need to drill new once for the swap. I would definitely double check this information though. Im going off of memory.

You'd be better off swapping the entire trunk lids. Then you don't have to drill new holes and plug old ones. Water leaks in the trunk are annoying.
You'll probably need to swap lamp failure modules for the different spoiler setup. It's a little plastic box, located near the antenna, clipped to the outside of that shared brace. There are different ones for various years, some are for "with spoiler" and some are for without.

The 2 outside mount holes on 97+ are the same as the older models but 96 and older spoilers have more mount holes inboard of those. There is also a seal that that is 4 pcs that goes under the older spoilers. I have been told that the older spoiler can be mounted to the newer trunk lid just by using the 97+ mounting holes. I will see, as I have a 97+ trunk lid that I will be putting my 96 spoiler on to replace the bad trunk lid on my 96. Use silicon where needed to help with sealing.

And dont forget about the counter weight spring tension as the weight changes due to spoiler.
