Removing Carpet
Hey All,
Well I accidently got my carpet soaked with rain over the weekend. Guess it is time to remove the carpet from the vehicle and give it a complete/thorough steam cleaning. Two question?
Question one: Does anyone know whats the cheapest way of getting a new tan carpet for a 92 SC400? I think the dealership quoted somewhere in the $700's.
Question two: If I can not get a new carpet set for a reasonable price I plan on taking the existing carpet out and cleaning the heck out of it. I know in order to remove the carpet I have to get the rear seat bottom out, as well as the front seats. I know there are caps/plugs that hold the carpet in place at the front, in front of the driver and passenger foot area. Question is, how do I go about removing the center console? What parts of the console do I need to remove, and how do I do it? Also, how do I remove the plastic sill piece on the edges of the door jam?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

From memory, the plastic bits go under the side panels behind the door, but you can wiggle them out. Then, clips hold them down the whole way along. I wanted to take all of my carpet out too, but I believe you need to take just about the whole center console out, so I lost interest.

speaking of carpet removal...and seat removal...where can i get the part of the seat in the front that usually gets all of the scuffs and tears..its the part that is the closest to the floor and kinda seems like a base to the seat...p.s. does anyone have nice looking grey carpet for an sc 400.
