Default nasty stain behind AC climate display window

Just bought a 97SC300 and there is a stain which appears to be Armourall that was sprayed on dash around climate control display window and dripped down behind the clear window area. Can I get to that easily or should I take it to someone who knows how to get the dash apart. I don't want to get in over my head and &^*$# something up. Any help or suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks

I'll bet that its on the face, not behind and is permanent. Some types of silicone products should never be used on these plastics. I have the same kind of stain on the plastic cover of my ash tray.

I personally think we should put out a contract on the inventor of ArmorAll.

Well, i won't tell you guy's it's NOT armor all.

When the lcd starts to dry out it appears as though the screen has gotten wet. as months pass it will eventually worsen untill the screen starts to turn black.

Now, good luck.... i hope it's armor all.

I was assuming it was some liquid like armoral because of the color and where it was. It would make more sense that it was on the outside and permanent. I don't see how anything could get behind that plastic. So am I stuck with this? Can the piece be replaced? It's like looking at a nice puzzle and only noticing the missing piece. It's the first thing I notice when I get in the car. Maybe I'll have to learn to live w/ it. Thanks for the input.

I can fix it 2 ways. i can tell you how to remove it and you can toss it in the trash. OR i can point you in the direction of the markertplace where i saw one for sale.

LCD's are over $300.00 at cost just for the little piece of glass sandwich that is the lcd itself.

Lets hope the CEO does get it apart and cleaned and then tells us all how to do it. And I'd be real surprised if it turns out to be glass!

While it is true that the LCD must be a glass sandwich, I find it hard to beleive that they did not put a protective plastic lens in front of it. In looking at mine (I have the same problem) it looks like something is on the backside of the plastic lens. Even if it is Armorall on the front of the lens, usually it can be wet sanded with .5 micron diamond paper and then polished out with plastic polish. It does not permeate completely thru the plastic. Doesn't Lexus offer a replacement lens?

there is a plastic cover. the post was in reference to the statement the liquid looked like it was BEHIND the plastic which is glass. the plastic front is sealed from the inside and sealed like a tank. i suppose nothing is unlikely.
