I have a 1992 sc400 when the gas warning light comes on the engine starts to sputter and will eventualy die. It should still have 2 or 3 gallons left right? Is this bad gas or gunk in the bottom of the tank or something else?

when the light comes on stop and get gas.

maybe you need a re-calibration of the gas needle... probably not gunk

How many gallons of gas did you need to refill the tank afterward. That will give you an idea whether you really have 2-3 gallons left in the tank.

Also, it is never a bad idea to change your fuel filter if you have not done so in awhile. Probably not the cause of your problem, but I just thought I'd throw that in for your benefit.
