Is there any way to make the tach needle flash, get brighter, or change colors when you get to redline? Kinda like a custom shift light inside the cluster? I may be stupid, but if it can be done, I want it!!!!!!!!!!!!

What would be the cost difference doing the cluster with the color shifting needles?

Just MHO, but wouldn't that be a little too flashy/distracting?

TG, it's just personal preference. Also, it has not been done yet so uniquness plays a part.

Hi all,

I’ve finally reached the point where I’m gonna have to do something soon about my needles, as 3 out of 4 are getting bad in the summer heat here in South Florida. I’m trying to decide between the SMDs and the waterfall needles and I’d like to see how those who have had the work done feel about how both versions look. I love the solid look of the SMDs, but I don’t like the idea of them blanking out at idle (even though I understand it’s being done to reduce heat and prolong the life of the SMDs). The waterfalls are on all the time, which is great, but I’m concerned that they may fade a bit too much at the tips and look too much like conventional incandescent-bulb illuminated needles like most cars use. Any input would be greatly appreciated and I’m sure would help others trying to make this decision like myself …

Thanks all,

--- George

is it possible to be able to control and change the color of those needles manually at preference?

Well I finally got around to doing my cluster. Soon I will be doing the needles as well.

I call this creation the "Half way between 16 and 32" Just jokin around. Thanks for the inspiration to do this OLT. I am fairly happy with it considering it is my first go at a cluster...

Great job! I see some spotting in that pic that the camera hides, but i am used to looking at pics I think you did great, keep working with it and that spotting will clear up some. Still though, awsome!

Haha you are the master! There is a dark spot at the 4 in the tachometer, and a small dark spot at the 160mph on the speedo. And the fuel gauge could use some better lighting. I will do some tweaking when I pull it apart to do my needles. Thanks OLT

Well I worked on the needles tonight. Burnt a couple LED's out but I think I finally figured things out. Still have to calibrate the needles and work on the balancing of the fuel, and temp needles. But I am really happy with the results so far. I left the backs of the needles open, and the extra blue light shines a cool beam onto the cluster. I think I am going to leave it that way. Looks kind of neat!
BTW the dimmer was not on full for this picture.
