Default The FIRST all SMD Needle

I'm really excited about this. Today is the one week anniversary of the first true all SMD needle. It has been burning for 7 strait days as of today and is tested and approved. For 4 months i have been working with SMD's to try and duplicate the factory original lexus needle. There have always been setbacks. Voltage is critical, proper circut wiring has been the key to obtaining 1.7 volts of drive to each of the TINY 1.5mm SMD's. Last week i wrote the final dircut design and wiring pattern for the first SMD to ever come out of the lab with a thumbs up and all go. I have let it burn for 7 strait days under extreme heat before announcing it to ensure it's longevity. SMD's are what the factory needle are made of. they are extremely small and there are TONS of them. working with them has always been almost impossible due to their size. I had to buy an extra strength magnifying glass with a halogen bulb to be able to see what i was doing.

Unfortunately it isn't the cheapest method of lighting in the world, and i have to assemble 148 smd in a row to make 4 needle's. nearly an 8 day process. Needles to say i don't know if i will ever build them again, as much as i love electronics.... this almost wasn't worth it...lol. I just wanted to be able to say i did it.

lol. i did do something kinda freaky that has potential. when i built the second needle, i used a mix of smd colors and had a needle that fired blue all the way up with a red tip stupid thing wouldnt photo to save it's life though. i do have one amber with a green tip that might photo though back to the lab......

by the way, that is Nikola Tesla over there for anyone that didn't know. (me in my past life , yeah right)

Thumbs up

Brian, great work! I think the red lite/ satin needles is the shizz. When my needles decide to go the way most SC needles do, I'll be sending you a cluster to rework.
