bmsport,
have you had a tough time doing the swap or does phil's manual pretty much give step by step instructions on performing the swap? Did you buy a front clip or just the engine and where did you get either one from? I have had a tough time locating and US spec GTE's and even harder time finding front clips.

I've actually not even started the actual swap yet, i'm still driving the Lexus around. You might as well give up on trying to find a us spec clip. Instead, contact some of the more reputable engine importers such as venus in CA and where i got my clip, Japan Direct. I don't have the number handy, but they are out of NC and have some decent prices. Yes, i did get the full clip. It costs more than just the engine, but for the SC swap, you need like 85% of the parts to do it right. Plus you get the getrag trans and other little necessary things such like the power steering reservior, UNCUT WIRING HARNESS, and other little things you tend to overlook when planning an engine swap. Phils manual will save alot of time due to all the supra/lexus wire splicing cross referencing guides included. I've done several SR20 swaps and a few 300ZX TT swaps, this swap seems like it would be just as easy if not easier than those. It just costs more .

I'm planning a GTE swap as well- how do I find a "Phil's manual?"
It sounds like this manual is a necessity to complete the swap. Can anyone point me in that direction?
Thanks!

I'd go with Japan Direct, I live down the road from them and have bought a few engines from them they have a great reputation. I go there all the time to hang out and look around they are great guys with good products and generally knowledgeable (although they know more about Hondas). There number is on their webstie, www.usedengines.com , definitely call them as they do most of their business with locals they don't check the website/internet often.
I believe this is Phil: http://www.fly-hawaii.com/lexustt/details.htm <he sells a home made manual on how to do the swap for $195

Yeah, Japan Direct was very good to me. My contact there was Johnny who was extremely helpful and honest when describing the condition of the engine. They originally quoted me one price but knocked off another $900 when they further inspected the engine anf found that it needed a little more tlc.
SC300nAE86 - if you go by there again sometime, tell Johnny thanks again from Matt H in Florida and i'll be sending pics of the completed project soon.
greySC300 - Get Phils manual, unless you really enjoy poking through wiring diagrams and lots of trial and error.
