what’s up everyone,
Ok 1 of my power steering hoses became puctured so I decided to replace it yesterday. Today I came to start my car and as soon as I turn the wheel I hear a screeching/whining sound come from the power steering pump, so I take it to my mechanic and it turns out that there can either be air stuck in the pump and or hoses or the impeller on the pump has been damaged and I need a new pump. I would appreciate any feed back on any of advice or info anyone might have on this matter.
Thanks
Tommy

Before you do that you could try to bleed the system. First make sure the resevoir is full with Dextron II/III then warm the car up and slowly turn the wheels all the way from stop to stop. When you get to a stop, hold for 2-3 seconds. Do it back and forth a few times. After you finish, look into the res for foam. If any, go through the process again. The manual says that if you have foam after a couple of bleedings, you have a leak in the system. If no foam and you still have the noise, then maybe your mechanic is right.
