The title is up for bids, please take it!!!

Workin' on it Scott, but my turbo is still not here yet (same unit as Angel is using) and i've missed my slot with my tuner, so my project is way behind schedule now . By the way, pretty sure T51R is the street tyre champ here, if 10.7's on DR's is good enough for ya . That's on his old setup by the way, so it's okay to let that cat out of the bag. I'm hoping to get close to the 11's with the automatic on a radial, should be far easier and more consistent to launch, but i'll need a converter and an LSD to see any kind of real decent times. Angel, very nice on such a limited tyre, i'm sure you could rock a solid slip on decent rubber @ a good track.

I'm not sure I'd classify Drag Radials as street tires even though the DOT allows them to be used on the street and alot of guys run them daily. Hell, ET streets are "street" tires.

For daily driver status I'd say the tire must be good in the rain at least, if not in the snow. There is no doubt my times would be better on a set of BFG or Nitto DRs. Angel could be within spitting distance of 10s with DRs, and Jeff could probably clock off a 10ET with DRs.

For street tire times, I'm referring to Max Performance street tires. I'd assume we'd want to limit to stuff like: Bridgestone S03, Michelin Pilot Sport, Kumho MX, Pirelli P-Zero, Dunlop SP9000,8000, etc. I'm leaving out the BFG KD, cause that tire is not good in the rain.

well with nitto 555R( not a drag radial one) ... with my old set up I ran 12.7,12.3, 13.1,....... somethng like 2.3, 2.4 60ft times.. I ran 2.0 only once.. trap speed is ike 125ish... .
HKS triple plate
Getrag 6 speed
T04R with 1.25bar(19psi?)
ran 10.7 with MT tire with 1.6ft
same set up with 2 bar on 116 race gas

it is hard to get a traction, and when you start making a big numbrt of HP.... then you will start break stuff.. axle, driveshaft. diff..

hey john how is your car coming along, I am still in japan working with riseup-racing.. but I am planning to comming back on couple of weekes... if you need me email me at tonishi21@yahoo.com

Scott..i dont know where this misconception about the BFG TA KD comes from...about it not being good in the rain......
i have personally driven my lexus from miami to atlanta in the middle of a hurricane/tropical storm....on BFG tA KD tires...i was also boosting in the rain to try em out and had a hard time breaking traction on 3rd gear or 4th gear rolls...now if that isnt good traction in the wet i dont know what is.....
i was also staying at about a 70-90 MPH pace the entire trip...never ever did i have a problem.....

but anyway.......on the KDs....6spd...lsd....id imagine i could hit some low 12s depending on how much clutch i eat up.....mabye an 11....but as most people know....i dont spend much time at the track....

BUY MY CAR..only 30K

I used to have a 8.5# flywheel and a 6 puck bronze sprung clutch on the car and in about 6 months it ate the flywheel.

No more bronze clutches for me.

My Horsepower Freaks clutch is a bronze disk. So, I've probably go about 3 months to go.....

That 6spd is looking better every day.

I did manage to get 20k miles out of that RPS clutch, but it chattered worse than the HPF and still didn't hold the power very well.

I am thinking of getting the HPF clutch kit, which did you get ?

This is the one I am looking at for 93-98 Supra
Toyota Supra 93-98 HPF CLUT 21s235mmS (SUP4) ACT 5 spd (Sprung Disk) / ACT PP 689.00
sale price of $489 or something like that.

Dang! That Sucks!!!

You mentioned your tranny got hot just cruising, and also that your input bearing needs replacing. Hmm....
I had an input bearing go out while my car was under warranty (30k miles, completely stock), which required replacing the tranny and the clutch (I suspect it was from having loose tranny mounts, but the dealer will never admit that). I guess my point is that maybe it's not the sheer horsepower that did the damage. Maybe your input bearing had been going for a while and let go when you stressed it, causing the rest of the damage.

Just an idea, but may give some hope that a new clutch and bearing will hold HP next time...

Angel, yes that is the exact clutch I have...

All I can tell you for sure is that it is better than the RPS. I really don't have much of a point of reference other than v.s. the RPS. The only other clutch that interests me is the Clutchmasters stage 4, but that clutch in the double diaphragm version will tear up the 5spd. My opinion is that you're better off trashing a clutch by slipping than having a clutch bite and take the tranny out. As far as I know the Clutchmasters stage 4 has the most bite of any 5spd clutch. Jeff tore up several trannies with the Clutchmasters stage 4.

The ACT plate is better than the RPS plate in my opinion. It is no heavier, but has a better release quality, and is easier to shift. As far as the disc, I'm a little concerned about the sprung disk versions - I've broken a spring on the RPS disc, and the HPF disc doesn't look any different in the hub area.

I'd really like to have something like a Mcleoud street twin clutch. Two stock discs sandwiched with a Tilton style driven floater plate and billet flywheel with a slightly heavier pressure plate. It would be grippy, yet chatter free, would hold around 500lbs/ft.

I wonder if anyone can do a custom one-off version? Its not rocket science.
