20% Tint? Cop Problems?
Hey boys and girls
I'm in Connecticut, but im Moving to FL in august.
Laws: CT: 35% All the way around; FL 28% Front Side, 15% back Side and Rear
I'm leaning towards 20% all the way around. The front sides would be 8% illegal, but the rear sides and back would be legal. What are you experiences ... especially in Florida? I know cops have those tools that measure the tint. I COULD go 30% on the front sides, but dont know if i want the shade difference. If i'm only 8% off on the front, think theyd ticket me, or give me a warning? $43 a ticket i believe .....
You guys got pictures of your tinted car, post em baby, along with your run ins with the po po.
Thanks
Peace

Wait until after inspection.
I purchased a Conn. car with 35% on the back and all side windows. When I had the car inspected I had to remove the tint on the door windows, since no after market tint is allowed. I do not know if Florida has inspection. If Florida does have inspection I'd wait until after the inspection to go illegal.

Georgia law is 35%. I've got 20% all around. No problems. This law has all but died the last few years. Cops don't really go looking for tint violators unless you're doing something else to catch their attention.

FL does not currently have a regular annual inspection. However, if you are running too dark they may pull you over. For the most part you will not get hassled over your tint. Almost every vehicle in FL has some type of aftermarket tint. I lived in FL for several years, had several cars & trucks, and all were tinted. Never caught any flak from the law about it either. My advice: go 28% on the fronts, and as dark as you want on the rest. The cops mainly want to be able to see want you are doing in there when the are beside you. Besides its a ****** to try and see out at night if you have limo tint on the fronts. I tried that once, but I had it stripped...can't see a thing when you are trying to back out of a driveway at night.

Not to worry! I’d say about 70% of the cars here are tinted and some are totally into the illegal range like most of the limo’s. I don’t know of anyone that has got stopped and has also got sited for over tinting. Some of the shops won’t go over the limit and warranty the tint but most all will go over the limit. I’d tell ya what I have but I don’t remember it’s one of the first things I did.

20% up front and as dark as you want in the rear and you probably won't ever have a problem. Plus the tint actually fades anyway, so keep that in mind.
Also always roll your windows down if you see that you are getting pulled over for anything....speeding or what not. By law they can't make you roll your window up to test it!
Just a tid bit from a guy with double limmo (5%) all the way around an the whole front windshield w/ 20%. Had it on since 98' and never had a ticket (well, got one but fought it and won).

this tint has never got me any problems with any cops, and i believe any front tint is illegal in calfornia. this is also angled toward the sun; on a cloudy day, the tint usually looks darker.
