Default To Paint or Not to Paint, that is the question

Im trying to decide whether or not to paint the front lip on my car when it goes to the shop to be repainted this February. I am going to keep it the same factory color and have the shop re-clear the hood, but I am on the fence whether I am going to have the lip painted or not. What are your thoughts?

I’d paint the bumper along with the lip, just for the freshness of it

It sort of depends on the car and the kit, but I generally feel that a lip separate from the bumper should be black, not body colored. They tend to look a bit odd otherwise, like adding fender flares to a truck and color matching them.

Good looking SC. Taking into consideration your wheels and CF hood - my vote for your car would be to leave the lip unpainted.

Unpainted (leave it black) is my opinion.... If you had replaced the front bumper cover with a style not needing a "lip" then there is no point.....

Either way you decide we look forward to the new pics.....

Id say dont paint it. Will look better black with the recleared carbon hood black ib my opinion. Maybe have it painted with a fresh coat of black?

Well, I finally got my car back from paint.. I decided to go ahead and paint the hood, leave the lip unpainted, and absolutely love it.

Of course you want the lip painted. Looks cheap and plastic-y without color match. Will look a lot more like it belongs.

Car looks great!

Think the black lip works with the black wheels. Definitely a good idea to paint the hood, looks cleaner/sticks out less.

Glad to see your still at it! We've had a few transactions over the years, last one was the 97 skirts.

looks great now! on darker colors i prefer an unpainted lip. just a touch of contrast is nice, so I think you made the right call. My car is white so I will be painting the OEM 92 lip at some point

I got a laugh out of this. I think we disagree on everything.

I still have that factory front lip I need to install...

Best of luck to you and the car in Florida!

I prefer the black lip unless you run an entire lip kit (sides and rear spats)
