Default car still sluggish

I have a 95 sc400 with 68000 on it.I just changed the plugs, cap and rotor but still have original wires on it.The car does not peel out at all unless I do a brakestand to about 1500 rpm then I get a chirp but that's it.What else could be wrong?I do not have traction control and ect is set to power. My friend has a 92 with 100k and his bakes the tires when he punches it.Could wires make that difference or are my 02 sensors bad?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

three things make the car.... fuel, air, and fire.

seems like you worked on the fire so far......

I once had a similar problem on a different car. I changed the spark plugs, cap and rotor. At first the car regained its power, but then lost it again shortly (one day later). I went ahead and replaced the wires and I never had a problem with it again. In my case, I think when I first changed the spark plugs, cap and rotor, I must have moved the wires just enough to get a good connection for awhile.

If replacing the wires doesn't work, follow onelasttry and UCI Jim's advice.

Hope this helps

Could it be that you have better tires and he has crappy tires?

I agree with verylost, I had a GS300 with similar problems and it turned out to be bad wire's arching and causing a major power loss. Mine breaks loose nicely when the devil takes over!

Good luck!

If your friend has a stock car and is smoking the tires without brake torquing, I think he has some old or bad tires. When my car was stock and after a full tune up and new tires, I could stall up to 2000 before the tires would start spinning on launch.

Question

I'm confused.

SHOULD a SC400 spin the tires if you floor it? Mine is completely stock and does not, but runs quite well, thank you. I do have some new tires on it.

I would think that it should not, and you should have nothing but grip. Mine is also a 95, but with only 58,000 miles.

?????

Call me crazy but doesn’t the 95 sc400 have traction control? Well I think the 92 may have a traction control defeat like the 90 LS400. That may be why your friends car breaks loose.

My 95 does not have it. I believe it was an option or part of a package, but I do not have it.

Spinning of tires isn't exactly the most scientific way to find out if something is wrong with the car.
If your car isn't smoking the tires, it doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong.
