Import a J-Spec Soarer?!?!?!?!

Some information about JDM Soarers that may help you
The JZZ31 2.5-ltr twin-turbo was not generally as well spec'ed as an SC300. The majority do not have leather, they have cloth seats albeit an upmarket velour kind of material. Unlike a Lexus most of the luxury 'items' on the Soarer are options, so some cars dont have ABS , nor traction control, some of the early models dont even have a drivers airbag.
In stock form they have less power than a US Supra with only 280hp, they are also limited electronically to a top speed of 180kmh (128mph?) and the display is also in kmh, its an easy fix to delimit the car.
All early Soarers suffer from a fault with the dash display, again an easy fix and available on all the Soarer club sites.
The turbos on the Soarer are the ceramic CT12a which probably have a life of 70,000 miles, which most early Soarers will be reaching.
Japanese used cars are cheap for a reason, its more cost effective for the Japanese to buy new cars than to keep older cars running. After a car is 3 years old it has to undertake what is called a 'shaken' (a warranty of road worthiness) , which is expensive, then it undergoes the same tests every 2 years after that. So when an older car is due for its 'shaken' Japanese owners sell them , a 'shaken' can cost anything from 100,000 to 150,000 YEN. The older the car, the more maintenance needed the more it costs, its typical practice to sell cars without a 'shaken'.
Having said all that, there are some excellent examples of the Soarer TT to be found, it just might take a while

na-t, i trust you are talking bout 2jzge. i havent really seen alot of high hp na-t including supras (my background). dealing with the 2jz-gte is completely different. pulling 420hp with bpu mods to 600-800hp with apu mods isnt too hard to accomplish...and all on stock internals. I love my engine set up and i think the 1jzgte would be comparable. again, ive only done minor research into the 1jzgte.

How much power do you want? There are a few guys here pushing 400-500 on very economical NA-T setups. Ebanks is pushing 1000. DaveH who makes the kits is famous for, and is doing good numbers in his Supra. If you want 500, I'd go with Dave's manifold. If you want crazy power, I dunno, SP or PHR manifold? You'll need to change the headgasket tho I believe. Easier than changing an engine though, and trying to get the 1JZ working with all the gauges and stuff.
800hp out of a 1JZ is no easy feat. Also expensive... parts are all ex-Japan, rare, and expensive. Aftermarket ECU is pretty much the Apexi only I believe. You still end up with 500cc less....
It all depends how far you want to go, but if it was me, I'd NA-T the GE any day of the week. I feel it would be cheaper and probably a better result.

your better off with 0.5liters more....more torque from the engine
once you turbo it.....it all goes to how big the turbine is.....a 3.0 engine pushes more air then a 2.5.......
do the conversion...save yourself a headache....and tuners are more familar with the 2jz(even the ge) then they are with the 1jz...........good luck with whatever path you chose
the 1jz is more orginal......

why not just get a front clip and ship that over and then ship over the doors, all the electronics and all the harnesses? and pretty much just put i on your car and covert it? i was thinking about it bout i would say it would be inconvenient to have a rhd in a ldh country? right? does anyone have a daily driver rhd in the US?

this has been discussed a million times it seems like on this board and yet every time it gets way out of hand and everyone starts posting how they "think" you can get a soarer in the states and honestly id be pissed if i went by 99% of the info on this board and my car got taken or never made it in the country if you guys are that concerned why dont you ask someone who has actually done it before and knows what they are doing ...... now i think theres someone here with this red soarer in florida that has done it before.... hmm who could it be?
