Wow, man, calm down....
I'm sorry if I misread/interpereted your post- I guess I missed some earlier stuff. However, that's why I said "I hope you're joking"
It looks like we're in agreeance with everything here afterall. Anyway, it's all cool - no hard feelings.
BTW, I'm not from OK and I'm leaving here in a month so I don't really care about the state's oil/financial problems. (Associating me with this state is a touchy thing )

Yea, I know, you're from OK the same way I'm from Texas!
When are you heading out west, anyway??
BTW, I think gas out there will be more expensive than here, and I don't think the taxes will be any better either. I guess it's a trade off for more sunshine and less trailer parks and tornado warnings.

Fuel prices
I don't think we're ever going to see stable fuel prices in this country until we do one of two things (or both):
1. Start producing more oil and gas here at home so we are not as dependent on OPEC and the Middle East. If producing more here at home means more drilling, so be it. We have allowed anti-car and environmental groups to hold up new drilling too long. And I'm not a hypocrite either on this issue...if it means drilling in MY back yard, go to it, guys....I say drill wherever you can find it.
2. Start using alcohol as an alternative, like they do in Brazil. Alcohol is clean, will not foul engines and spark plugs with carbon, is less toxic than gas, less volatile, less of a has an very high octane to prevent pinging, has extremely low emissions, and can be made from Midwestern corn....and even recycled garbage in some cases. Alcohol's only problems are the need for larger fuel tanks due to its lower energy content than gasoline and the re-engineering of fuel lines designed for gas....alcohol will deteriorate them.
But until we do something to change the status-quo.....buying half our crude oil from abroad....we're going to have to put up with this up-and-down yo-yo pricing and availability.
