Default My Newest Mod!!! TURBO TIME!!

Well boys and girls

I bought a turbo, with the help and co-operation with a really great guy, SC300TURBO. (Jeff - great guy, very helpful!!) I was able to buy a turbo, manifold, wastegate, downpipe, dumptube, and midpipe! I am very excited and thought that id share some pics of the things with you on CL.

The turbo is a T70 built by turbonetics. The wastegate is also a turbonetics deltagate mark II. The manifold is toyomoto. And I dont recall, but i think that the piping was custom. (Jeff you can help me out here if any of this is wrong)

I'll be sure to let the CL community know when the rest of the parts are aquired to make this t70 work. Let me know what you guys thinks!

Kevin

What made you decide to stick with the 2jz-ge? I take it your not going for huge numbers with your set up, just something a little more civilized and dialy driveable? just curious because lots of people have different aims with their SC300-T/SC300TT. Looks nice, and should be top quality since you got it from SC300TURBO. his car is one of the nicest. Good find!

Well you hit it on the head. I wanted something to be powerful, and still a daily driver. I dont want HUGE numbers, but it all depends on what your definition of huge is. For some its 600, and for some its 2000. For me huge is anything over 1000 at the crank. I am looking at staying around 450 or so on low low low boost. Hopefully i wont break my transmission, but in the event of a broken transmission, i will probably get the 6speed. (i have 5 speed now) I am still collecting parts, so i dont know when the install is happening.

Seems like we got some of the same views on our cars. If i had the 300 5 spd, I would be going the same route as you. Partly because I'm a poor highschooler, but also because over 450 rwhp, there is no reason for me and i'm only gonna get into more trouble. Oh, and for the most part over 1,000 hp at the crank is gonna be considered huge! I bet the 5 spd will hold up for a while, and if it does break hopefully it will be far enough down the road that you can pick up a getrag 6.

I agree, for someone like myself 450 is PLENTY. I consider that very good power.

then again, i'm used to having a 4 cyl Porsche that produces loads of torque and weighs nothing. In my Bimmer that would be about right, in the SC that would be about right also.

LOL i was in that high school boat when i bought the car!!! LOL it took my 3 years to grow the ***** to buy a turbo finally, i have been putting it off for 3 years!! i bought the body kit, then rims, then suspension, then small NA things... NOW its time for forced induction! You and me think exactly alike. When the 5 speed breaks, get the 6 speed. Well now im going into my 2nd year in college. Who says college kids are broke? (not when you have a job that pays for half of your tuition!!!)

Congrats on the good finds Lexcoupe! Sounds like you're in for some fun. I, too, agree that 450 is a sufficient number. But, if I know myself at all, then once I got used to 450 I'd be yearning for more! If you don't mine me asking, about how much does all that stuff cost?

Thanks all! I dont mind you asking, SC300turbo found me a hell of a deal that i just couldnt pass up. All this for $2300+ shipping. From what he told me the heat coating and polishing alone was around 600-800. I bought it off of one of his friends, Jeff was the middleman. A great one at that.
