Hey guys!

Right now I'm 15 1/2. I would like to get a car somewhat after my birthday. I'm looking at SC300 because the insurance for my dream car (Supra TT) is like $6300 a year. What a rip.

I tried to check with the online quotes, but they won't give any quote to anyone who is under 21

So, what would full insurance for an SC300 cost a guy like me?

you should get your insurance under your parents insurance or with a brother or sister, it comes out being alot cheaper, some insurance companys dont ask who drives each car the most they figure you just drive all of them, the ones that do that like progressive comes out being cheaper if you have other cars like SUVs and Sedans on it

There are way too many variables in auto insurance quoting to even give you a reasonable ballpark figure. Just contact the agent your parents have their auto insurance with, and ask them for some rates. Checking rates before you buy the car is a smart thing...I wish more people thouhgt ahead like you.

Hey, I was planning on joining my mom's insurence (Mercury). But mercury does not like drivers under 21

So, no one can give a ballpark estimite.

BTW: I've been driving since spring break, and I have no accidents.

the only thing i can tell you is that I pay around 2400/yr under my parents policy and we're with allstate......

i have a question thats sortof on the subject. what does insurance view the sc400 as? is it viewed as a sports car or a luxury coupe or what? cause i know sports cars are hella insurance

Wow, I didn't know insurance could cost up to that much. I just put insurance and registration under my uncle's name, and I only pay about 450 every 6 months and that was full coverage. You should take mine and some of the other members advise and do it that way. It should save you a grip of money. Just think of it this way, the more money you save from the insurance, the more money to can put into the car.

the driving age in California really needs to be raised to 18!!

go get a different car to learn on, and smash it up instead of a poor sc

Hey hey hey now, not all kids with SC's smash them up. I had a suburban I learned to drive on and drove for the first 3 months that I had my license then I got my SC last november, and perfect record. Oh, if you have good grades you can get a discount too. That helps me a lot.

A 15 year old should start driving in a 89 Corrolla at first because you know your going to wreck the darn thing one way or another..

I used to have a 87 SUPRA NA when I was 16, I got that thing totaled and my mom insurance skyrocketed.

I think its something like 90% of 1st year drivers get in a accident, you are one of the few, but then again so was I.... and then a few months later I rear ended a caddy

not to mention 15-17? (something like that) get in more accidents than old people...and they can't see or hear! what does this tell us about teens ...

I'm 19 (no tickets. one minor accident not my fault [hit in rear by someone not paying attention]) and my SC4 is $3k a year in the miami area for insurance when im on my parents policy, but dropped to $2k since I am moving back up to gainesville.

When I got my car at age 17, my insurance was $4k a year in the miami area
An SC3 is a nice first car and you can still get in plenty of trouble with it, trust me

Also, Geico said they consider my SC a sports car (plus the 250HP RWD doesnt make the car the most insurance friendly for a young person).

If someone learning to drive is lucky and gets to have an SC, then good for them, just remember that you have almost no experience driving yet. From my experiences I'd say that 50% of accidents for high school students come from lack of experience (you have to learn sometime) and the other 50% from acting stupid behind the wheel. I first drove an 89 toyota camry and learned to drive the **** out of that thing, then moved up to a 99 Honda Odyssey, but even something a little slower will in my opinion make you a better driver since you'll learn how to use more of the car. If you want to stick with RWD id also look into a 240SX, fun lil cars to drive and learn on. Drive safely.
