how does lexus I6 compare with bmw l6?
I am looking at getting something more modern looking, so I am debating on a mid 90's 325is or an sc300. Right now I have an older 89' 325is. Bmws are known for their silky smooth l6, and the engine is so refined and sings all the way to redline. How does the sc300 compare, how is the feel, I know that the sc300 is a little bit heavier. Has anybody else switched from a bmw, what were your impressions?

The lexus motor winds out better. the bmw motor feels more punchy or "grunt like".
My old 325 would tear down the road with amazing pickup. it seemed to have more torque in the way it accelerated. My SC is a whole new world away from my 325. the 325 was extremely fun to drive, as is my SC,....but not as much to be honest. The 325 handles great, but especially in wet weather the SC is amazing in the corners. more-so than the bimmer.
If you want something that is quick and agile and overall fun to drive and stay somewhat stock, the 325 is a funner car, but really we are talking about a little sports coupe V/S a big sports/luxury coupe and there is so much more the SC has to offer aside of just "motor".

In my opinion the Lexus' I6 is a far smoother unit in terms of noise and vibration compare to the BMW I6s.
However, as onelasttry said, if you want sheer fun and prefer to rev the engine, I would definitely for the BMW. Its I6 loves to be revved and driven hard.
I often see my RPM needle dancing past 6.5k on my 325is. On the other hand, the RPM needle on my SC4 rarely gets past 3k.

Having owned a tricked out 535is I will tell you that although I love my 3.0 2JZ-GE engine, especially the reliability, the 3.5L inline 6cyl is a force to be reckon with.
Sorry, I’m not a big fan of the smaller BMW motors..
