um, If you can make friends with a Dealer you can borrow his plates, I used my uncles dealer plate and drove around an old Mini for weeks (right hand drive).. Cops never had a problem here in New York.. and New York is pretty tuff for cops now.

I work at a toyota dealership. And erm we can't do that. Everything is logged and docked down to a T. If you get caught, it's serious trouble, even with temporary plates.

ive had my soarer for over a year now never had a problem with customs. had mine imported in parts then put back together inspected at DMV then titled and registered.
