Default What brand of wheels to go with?

Hey all,

Looking to get some wheels for my SC but wanted some input on brands.

I like the BBS LM, Work VSXX style if wheel but dont have the money for the baller wheels right now. I was looking at the Aodhan AH02. Has anyone had Aodhan wheels before? Car will be going to track events as well.

Also, what brands might be a step or two above them that I could look at, maybe ESR? Looking for 5 x 114.3, 18 x 9.5 et somewhere near 20's and trying to stay around 1,500 for wheels and tires.

Thanks in advance!

XXR 521s are very common on these cars and are definitely in your budget. I've had a set of XXRs and couldn't complain about them for the price. I was looking at Aodhans and ESRs for my current car but ended up getting a good deal on some Advantis.

Enkei makes some good rims and depending on size/spec you can get them within your price range, especially if you find a deal for a wheel/tire package. The EKM3 is a similar style to what youre looking for too.

ESR SR05 would give you that look without the huge price tag, but it all depends on your budget and style.

A lot of these Wheel companies make replicas of the OGs. XXR, ESR, Avid1, JNC are just a few examples.

ESR SR05 are similar to the VSXX.
Avid1 AV32 are similar to the Work Emotion Kiwami
Avid1 AV06 are similar to Rays TE37.

But all have their own versions of these popular wheels.

But you could also look at more mainstream companies that have a little better reputation:
Enkei
Konig
Motegi

The other option would be finding some good condition used ones. This is what I did for some 5zigen Wheels for my MR2.

Yeah after doing some more research I think I'm aiming to get some used ones just to try and avoid any low end brands and problems.

Currently looking at some Work Emotion D9R's with tires for around 1200 or I saw some CE28N's with tires for 1500, both good deals.

I'm a bit nervous about the CE28N's as that is a really low price for those wheels with tires. Anyone have any thoughts? I'd have to ship the CE's whereas I could go pick up the Emotions. The guy said they're fine except one small scratch but again the price makes me nervous there is something up with them.

I'll try to add pic of listing.

Thanks in advance!

My statement wasn't to say those lower end wheels are going to crack or get damaged, I've seen mixed experienced with XXRs, and Subaru people seem to love the AVID1s. But it all depends on your usage (track or DD) and expectation at the price range.

In my opinion, buying wheels used when you have to ship them and can't see them is a gamble. Especially from an online marketplace, unless its a reputable shop. I think its better to be able to see and inspect them (I did this with the 5zigens I bought locally). They could have a small crack that's not easily noticeable in pictures, then that's a repair you need to have done with no way to trace it back or be able to negotiate it upfront. Or even worse, something you won't know until you hit a pothole and it becomes a major crack.
