Default Possible Convert (need an opinion)

hey hey,
Within a year, my cousin will be receiving a 1995 Mercedes SL500 w/ around 100k miles. I think maybe I could convince him to sell it, buy an old SC300 and build it w/ the money from the sale of the SL.
Good idea or bad idea?

When you say build, if you meen turbo it heck yeah it's a good idea!

Not sure how long a mid 90's SL will last either. It could become very costly to keep it up and for repairs.

he he he... if I sell the SC I may be jumping to the GS bandwagon..... well maybe a 1st gen GS3 and a 5speed SC3... the dealer that I was talking to about buying a 98GS3 sold the darn thing right under me(less than 3 days).... when I called back they were like... who are you? freaks..

oh yeah on the SL I hear it's a great ride... the only problems I hear and I hear it happens alot is you have to change the battery every 18-30months on average(i know it's a wide range) because there are so many electrical things and not potent enough of an alternator so it drains out the battery and kills it quicker...

SC3 is nice and cheaper.... and I think cheaper to maintain and cheaper to make it go fast... insurance is cheaper too... good luck.

Yes by build i mean turbo it and all the goods.

Actually one, it's the same cousin that was driving around with me up in Chattanooga when I met you at K-mart to drop off the needles. I think it's highly probably that he will get the SL it's just a matter of "can i convince him to change to the SC."
Anyone know how much an SL like that one would go for? I know i could do a search and all that stuffs but i gotta head to class, if no one wants to take the time, I'll just do it and post it later.
Peace

a 95SL with 100k miles should still go for something like 12k-18k.. depending conditions etc.
