Has anyone put a es 330 steering wheel on a SC? Or any dual stage airbag on it?

search '3 spoke steering wheel sc400'. There are dozens of threads talking about this issue. If you're having trouble using the search feature on the site, type it in google and add :clublexus.
The short summary: there is an adapter you can buy.

I had an IS300 steering wheel and used an adapter to make it work. I switched to a 2003 ES300 steering wheel and my adapter didn’t work. I ended up leaving it unplugged.

I’m not sure what’s needed to make it work. I always heard the adapter from my IS300 steering wheel was supposed to make the ES330/SC430/GS steering wheels work too.

If Sc300/400, you can use steering wheels as long they are up to year 2000 with airbag adapter plug # 09082-00760 .. Any steering wheels that are over 2001 will not work.
As far as I know from past threads.
Plus switch over your old cruise control.

Transplant over your old cruise control yes. But It's not *exactly* steering wheels up to 2001. It just won't work if you use a steering wheel with a dual stage airbag.

For example, it's popular to install a 2001-2005 IS300 steering wheel, however that same steering wheel and airbag design was used through 2005 models, the IS300 included.

--The 1998-??? Toyota RAV4 steering wheel is the same as an IS300 M/T steering wheel (no little side buttons) but it's not leather wrapped. The airbag center says "Toyota" and its logo is raised on a flat circle just like the IS300 steering wheel's airbag center.

--The 1998 Toyota Supra steering wheel is also just like the 2001-1005 IS300 M/T steering wheel and the airbag center is also exactly the same as the 1998-to-??? RAV4 steering wheel center.

--The Toyota Matrix XRS, Corolla XRS and MR2 Spyder steering wheels also are of the exact same design and all share the same single stage airbag system as in the IS300 1st gen, 1998 Toyota RAV4 and 1998 Toyota Supra.

You use that airbag adapter above that TexRud lists to make any of these work in 1992-2000 SC's. Only the 01-05 IS300 airbag center will give you a Lexus "L" however.

And I believe it is only with the IS300 Automatic steering wheels (very common) that you will find the two transmission shift buttons. Some people have figured out ways to re-wire these buttons for custom functions in their turbo SC's.

I picked up a leather wrapped 2004 MR2 Spyder M/T steering wheel (no cruise control), a 1st gen Lexus IS300 airbag center, the little Toyota airbag wiring adapter and did some measuring, masking and cutting of the plastic where my SC300 cruise control stalk needed to stick out from. Some careful Dremel work, some tapping of the existing unthreaded screw holes on the steering wheel's inner frame to mount the cruise unit, and it all works perfectly.

ES330 wheels may not work but there is some other earlier generation ES steering wheel that should if the woodgrain is what you're looking for. I have seen some generation Lexus ES steering wheels in 92-00 SC300/400's before with the woodgrain rims but I cannot say for sure if these owners were working with a dual stage airbag that they left totally disconnected or if they figured out how to hook up only one airbag stage if it was a dual-stage center.

Personally I'd stick to any Toyota/Lexus single-stage airbag steering wheel and center. Your SC's airbag ECU will know how to work with it just the same as the stock one.

...

There's also the 1999-2000 SC300/400 steering wheel with it's sort of triangular shape if that's of interest. Single-stage airbag of course.

I was reading a another forum about taking the air bag unit in the back and replacing it with a first stage air bag. There are two styles of first stage air bags. Here’s the forum https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...e-airbags.html
