Not to hijack a hijacked thread, but........

And, BTW if we do get them made I will paint them to match, and they will be available possibly through myself and another CL member.

If i see a potential group-buy forming by someone other than a vendor approved by CL, i am locking it and sending out pink slips

Carry on

Im not starting a group buy, no one would pay enough for them to make it worth our time even if we wanted too!

The door is the heaviest part of the sc's body. heavier than the fenders, the hood, and the trunk. aside of the unibody itself, that's where the weight needs to be shaved from. I see TONS of strength issues with the inner structure of the doors, but i also see a mod that would make all the difference in the world.

The daily driver who wants "cool" doors will lose it when a door ding or shopping cart bump requires the door to be removed...IF it can be repaired.

Ever consider 'why' the doors are this heavy? It's pretty safe to assume that they play a key part in the structural integrity of the car. Im sure his frame is strapped to hell to keep the body from crushing the doors

This mod is for track cars or serious show cars only.

Absolutely. If you have the kind of money it takes to get CF doors, you would be better off putting it under the hood. Much better return on investment.

There's not a lot more for me to do under the hood.

I'm sure if I get the molds made it will be $2000-$2500 per mold, and then I have to pay to get them made, so I would imagine I would have $6000 in them or so... Of course if I were to make a few sets of them it would be cheaper, but I can't discuss that unless I were to talk to Ethan about it and get his approval. To be honest, it would be a few months anyways if it were to even happen, so no point discussing it now.

i see all these negative comments about being hit and stuff...but you guys act like it would just be a sheet of cf and act like it wouldn't be reinforced, which it would be. And personally i think they're really nice . and yeah the price on them would be steep, but without taking off some weight on our fatass cars....how are we going to stand up to the competition out there(supra, rx7,viper, vette...so on...) ? PLUS I LIKE CF

No negative comments......Just keepin it real.

How would you reinforce the door to withstand impact from another car? hoods have disclaimers and require hood pins.

sooooo, If you get T-Boned by a car, you WILL bleed to death.
A single strand of cured CF will go thru your flesh like a long sharp needle......slow.

If youve ever seen this stuff when it breaks you'll know what im talkin about.

The door ding issue should be enough to stop a 'daily driver' from even wanting these. You cant 'repair' cosmetic carbon fiber once its cracked.

Em, with all that CF on your car, i would have actually expected you to want these. I was surprised to see you didn't. i suppose your car is too much of a daily driver for this type of mod, but it would match all that CF already on it

These are all tradeoffs that a 400 lbs weight savings would be worth for me.

However, I am not sure if the $$$ is worth it or not. lol

Ebanks: I could see you getting this done somewhere in the near future.....

Onelasttry: I tossed the idea around for a few minutes (just a few) and came to the realization that I just didnt want to put the time into it. I havent been in the car for about 3 months......or more
