1 litre 91 octane: 0,835 - 0,845 Euro
1 litre 95 octane: 0,845 - 0,910 Euro
1 litre 98 octane: 0,919 - 0,985 Euro

I always use 95 octane. That means I pay for 1 gallon (95 octane) 3,44 Euros.
That's around 3,85 USD.

If I can answer this question, I can also answer the question of why GM put Mobil 1 in Corvette engine and make Corvette owner use Mobil 1 while Trans Am and Z 28 have the same engine but use regular oil...

How come all the high end cars uses different oil than the lower end, I know BMW 740 uses their own oil that cost a lot more than regular auto parts store? How come oil change at Toyota dealer cost less than at Lexus dealer?

On my Corvette I have to put in higher Octane so the engine wouldn't knock, it knock real bad on regular gas. On my SC400 I use regular gas because the engine doesn't knock. What a few horse power to me doesn't make any difference. When I want power and acceleration I drive the Corvette, when I want comfort and Luxury I drive the SC.

Default SC400 Stuff

I only use Chevron Premium gas. I have noticed better power and better gas mileage... I however probably only get 350miles to the full tank.. Is there anything that anyone can think of that would help with that?

Austin to Dallas and back I received 26.5 mpg. I was impressed!

One quick question, guys.

How do you guys keep an accurate account of your average fuel consumption when it fact, the SCs did not even come with a trip computer that figures out all the average mileage?

I figure that I can just look at the gauge and do the calculations manually. But such method is probably not all that accurate though.

You're all about diggin' up the old threads M3...

Mileage = miles / gallons. Simply reset your trip meter when you fill up, then when you fill up the next time, divide the trip meter by the amount of gas you put in (provided of course you fill up completely every time). No visual estimation necessary. Since that's simple, maybe you meant something else?

That's what I do when I am on my studying breaks.

I know, the most basic way would be for me to take note of how many gallons I put in my car, and then divide the miles I covered by the number of gallons I put in.

However, I've been having a hard time telling where exactly the fuel needle is. For example, I notice that my fuel gauge meter sometimes "flows" a bit. Meaning that at times it would seem 1cm above or below where it should be.

I was hoping that Lexus had put in a trip computer in SCs so we can get a super accurate figure.

I tend to believe that figuring mpg manually would be more accurate than a trip computer. The main accuracy factor in figuring manually is the consitency in gas station pumps filling the tank to the exact same spot each and every time. But maybe trip computers are more accurate. I've just always found there to be a gallon or two difference between both methods.

what gas tank do you have??

Our tanks hold 20.6 gallons of gas...and you might need a tune up or you might need to reset the ECU
my tank is only 18 gal. When I drive it down to E and the light comes on,... 17.8 gal to fill it up or somewhere short of that 16.9 - 17.8 gals. What's up with that?? Mine's a 97. I only get on a good day of city / mix driving 290 - 320 miles to a tank.

I just filled up 10 minutes ago

273 miles
14.07 gallons

about 20 MPG

I am a mechanical engineer and the only harm in running lower octane fuel is detonation. I personally buy premium, but if the car is not pigging on 87 its fine.

The empty line is at 17.6 gallons, but there is a 3 gallon reserve. I've filled 18.2 once...too scared to go any lower than that.
