Talking Got the back end to step out!

And loved it!

I've had the car for only a couple weeks so far, and today was the first opportunity I had to really push it into a nice smooth sweeper. No cars ahead of me on the >270 degree onramp to 280 from rt17. A little bit of late brake, and the back end stepped out nicely, and stayed there pleasantly all through the turn with no additional throttle necessary. The slightest touch of additional counter-steer at the end of the turn brought it back in without even the slightest wobble.

Freakin' beautiful.

Almost felt like the Fiero I used to have, and not at all like the 3600+ pound car that it is.

I love this thing.

From what I've read in an article about the SC300 it likes to corner with the tail out a little more than the SC400 does. I remember giving the car a little bit too much gas in 2nd gear going up a wet, uphill turn. I was pleasantly surprised.

My sig wasn't posted with the last message... 1992 SC400 here...

Now if I only had a LSD, the trac control would come off, and I'd be wagging my tail all over, all the time...

93 SC3 here and the tail steps out nicely and predictably. When I used to have the stock 15" and 215/60 series tires, did it all the time, a bit excessively to a point. On the dry with trac off, it's still pretty predictable with the stock 16" I have now. It may not be the fastest or the newest, but I still have a blast everytime I get in my car.

They (Toyota) really should've put TRC and LSD as standard on the twin turbo Soarer, it really needs it, especially in the wet! From experience my Soarer is very tail happy, and that's stock...

After driving a Porsche 928 that pushes like there's no tomorrow, it's nice to be back in a car that'll hang the back end out politely without having to force it, or be out of control while out, or require frantic correction when you're done to get it to come back. The Porsche, when it did decide to spin, was very out of control, and took full lock to get it to come back. The SC was so demure about it, it was fantastic. It required no effort on my part to get it to happen, or to get it to stop happening.

I had missed my (sadly dead) late model Formula Firebird with a 350, 6spd, and LSD that made U-turns a simple matter of turning the wheel and punching the throttle. The SC, while not having that power, tranny, and LSD, more than makes up for it with an independent rear, and fantastic manners...

Just happy with the car and thought I'd share, that's all...

good job of not losing it.

now what you gotta try to do is go a little too fast into a corner.... yank the steering wheel into the direction of the turn... pull the e-brake up for a split second and then mash on the gas throughout the turn... oh and dont forget to countersteer... now thats what i call happiness

Sounds like one too many video games for you!

I prefer the slip the clutch method myself. Enter turn, pull wheel, and either drop a gear or just slip the clutch a tad while punching it. Much more controlable than e-braking it. Used to do this in the Firebird *all* the time. Of course, that requires a manual though. What was nice about today was that it didn't require throttle to hang it out. It went just as I expected it with some regular braking that lightened the rear. Happened exactly when I anticipated it would and was so predictable, I wasn't even the slightest bit afraid that I'd lose it, even taking the 30 mph turn at 65.
