Default I need your opinions!!!!!!

Hello everybody, I am new to this site. I am currently looking at buying a 93 SC400. The car has 149,000kms on it (canadian) I am from Canada eh......LOL I've been looking for a couple of weeks now and this is the nicest one i've seen yet. I ran a vehicle damage inquiry and I was shocked when I saw the amount for theft. There is a claim amount for $22,283.68 for theft in FEB 1995 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! This really concerns me, however this car was worth about $80,000 brand new. The guy that's selling it told me he is the third owner and said there was a claim for about $2200 from theft. Too bad buddy forgot the other 2 Besides that the car is in great shape. So what do you guys/girls think i should do? Also, any advise as to what to look for in these cars before buying (things that go wrong) Please any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.....THANKS

Okay, you might want to convert that into US dollars so it doesn't confuse anyone here..

I wouldn't buy any theft recovery car. There are often too many things that could go wrong after it was stripped, esp. in an electronics sensitive car like this.

And I knew what you meant with the prices when you posted them, I grew up 10 mins from Canada.

Thanks for your opinion tggoodrich, I'll definately put that into consideration. I wished there were more SC's for sale over here.

Buy one from the states and legalize it there. When supraforums goes back up (hopefully) someone posted a guide on how to do the whole legalization thing.

.

Expand your horizons. When I start looking to upgrade my 93 for a 97, I will go anywhere in the US. What's the cost of a plane ticket if you really want the car?

hey fellow Canadian here....... where in canada are you? Here in Toronto I always used to see sc400 for sale (sc300 didn't make it to canada from what I know ). Claim that much??? that's how much my 92 sc was worth well +2 - 3000 like 4 years ago.... what did they steal the engine???? Anyways my point is there are usually alot for sale in T.O. ( haven't checked lately) and for a descent price. You might want to check http://www.intellexual.net under the read title and then under technical it says almost everything about this car a VERY informative article. Good Luck

Hey Nick, I'm from Vancouver. Not too many SC400 around here, especially not in good condition. The only reasons that I would still consider buying this car is because it's in great shape, actually the best one i've seen yet. Also, it was stolen in 1995 and i'm sure this car was worth quite a bit at that time. I have actually found the original owner of this vehicle, just waiting for him to call me back. Hopefully he can tell me what was actually stolen.
