Default Radiator Plate

Would anyone be interested in getting a radiator plate? CARBING makes it in japan for the SC, but it's difficult to find.

This is something simmilar:

What's the purpose of the plate?
I'm sure it's not aesthetics.

It's for good looks mostly. Stock SC already has a plastic in the place where this plate would go.

You'll notice a lot of tuners in Japan have them. Some claim it's for better cooling but I doubt it.

would the sc one have the same contour as the plastic one? The plastic one is great, you can keep tools, bolts, etc without loosing them when working on the car.

Most likely not.... The one that CARBING makes for our cars is just streight through much like most such plates for other cars. It's just for looks and usually costs like 50 bucks and up.

or about $5 worth of aluminum, depending on how well you cut.

although i dont like that aluminum radiator plate, i do like the carbon fiber radiator plates, they look pretty good. especially if u have a carbon fiber hood, and then u pop the hood and it carries that same carbon fiber look into the engine bay. Thats classy. The aluminum thing looks like something that would go on a drag honda civic. They do all that silver low temp wraping aluminum stuff. but now ur sayin we wouldnt even get much performance out of this? no way would i get one.

I think it's a useful piece. I dont believe its meant to replace the long piece that everyone puts screws and tools. Its for the opening in front of it. The space where the hood latch is. If you were to look down into this space you will find a large curved plastic cover that directs air through the radiator.
If you were to add something like a frontmount Intercooler, you would have to remove this plastic cover and you would then have an open space that will allow you to see the radiator and you would nolonger be directiong air directly through the radiator.
This piece would help solve that problem. I would also go for the carbonfiber one, if there is one.

I think you need to relax and if you don't have much good to say just don't say anything.

I agree with you; however, I think the one made by CARBING does also replace that "plastic piece where everyone puts their screws and tools". I have my intercooler in mind plus I will be replacing the radiator... so this would not only blend but also cover up that hole.

My buddy offered to make one for myself so I just thought to share it some others.

Chris

PS. CARBING plate costs around $100 bucks. Most of these cheap $5 plates cost way more than $50 bucks.

I would definitely be interested in this, whether it was aluminum or Carbon fiber. I have a sizeable front mount ic on my car, and cannot retain that factory plastic piece like gadget mentioned, so all you see is the top of my front mount. I think this plate would be a nice touch.

Not the best pic, but you get the idea
