Sport Compact Car's November Issue - SC Makes Top Six Sleeper List!

Sport Compact Car's November Issue
I saw this thing on 6 street sleepers "that prowl the LA night hunting Vettes & Vipers". I laughed because other than the special edition vettes (the Z06 and a few others come to mind) the plain-jane vettes aren't as really, really fast. I drove a 1994 Corvette convertable with 25k miles and was unimpressed -- the steering felt disconnected yet the ride was hard. Anyhow, back to the article...
the looked kinda interesting 'cause they had a turbo SC 300 in there. Read the article and turns out the guy who did it not only works for apexi, but used a F-Max turbo kit...
I haven't exactly been a regular on the forums for the past year (college is a duzie), but has anyone here installed the F-Max kit? They seemed to be all excited about the quaility of this kit (and all the goodies it came with), so I guess they never heard the word toyomoto...
I donno... something in me protests the publication of the SC300 5sp's inner beast. It's a secret only the well informed enthusiast should know
And for the record, don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking vettes, but they aren't a measure to which all other cars should be compared... unless they're seriously modded.
Oh another random thought: My father is building the new dealership for the BMW dealer who also owns a porche and audi dealership. Last time the owners came to a meeting in an M5 and that Porche-on-stilts TT SUV. But the time before... it was an RS6. Any car that has the battery in the trunk from the factory gets a from me. I'll see if I can't snap off some pictures of a few of their cars. Apprently they've got a drag mini-s, and a few road-race M cars as well... Almost makes you want to own a few dealerships doesn't it?
Oh yes... sidenote:
While I was sleeping (litterally) my little brother put my car into a tree... so that's that. Front end is done in, radiator got hit too... looks like a total.
EDIT: I suppose this could be considered a FI post, but I'd like to hear what people think about the article in general

Sorry but I have to disagree, as far as money is concerned the C5 Vette presents one of the best values for performance. It definitely is a standard.

Yeah, forgot about that one

yeah... the C5 is nice... but the new C6 is supposed to have 450 HP outta a 6.3L (~383 ci) -- that is something. I can't wait to see what the Z06 is gonna do.
But then again, the new BMW M5 will have 500 HP, and the RS6 has 419 Ft/Lbs at 1400 RPMs, and makes 450 farther up the band.
I think 350 hp is turning run of the mill when my father's hovercraft like Q45 runs a 1/4 mile .6 seconds slower than the C5.
I've heard something about a Z15 and that should be interesting, but the point remains.

Six Street Sleepers - #2 is the SC300
Check out Sport Compact Car, November 2003 Vol. 15 # 11. There is a good article on the 6 Street Sleepers.
1-Toyota Supra Turbo
2-Lexus SC300 Turbo
Gives Vettes and Vipers a run for their money.

I read that article yesterday, I found it very interesting that he did NO mods as far as aesthetics are concerned. That car looks like a plain old SC, i wonder what types of looks he gets when he dusts mustangs and others.

Sleepers
1. 1994 Supra, Black. 700hp, with 17" rims! No bling
2. 1995 SC300, Black. F-Max Turbo kit. 360 hp. Totally stock exterior....except for single exhaust. Very nice, except it has snow tires lol
3. 1973 Datsun 240Z with a Chevy 383 small block, Porsche Grey. Very VERY well engineered. Suspension is totally tricked out. Runs 1/4 mile in 12.5 on street tires.
4. 1990 Hyundai Excel, White. 4G63 - Mitsubishi turbo powered. Nasty rims, but OH so sleeperish. Tein coilovers. Less than $4k to build.
5. 1996 Integra GT-R, Blue. Turboed, but still not my cup of tea. And pug-fugly 15" rims. But hey, atleasts its got stainless steel brake lines!
6. 1997 Eclipse GT-S, White. Big ol' turbo. Pretty nice, very stock inside and out, except for that huge intercooler....
My favorite would have to be the 383Z, it is incredible. Then the Supra and SC.
Id recommend getting this issue, its pretty tight, luckily my friend gave it to me because he knows how much I love them SC's.

my friends car when it runs
orange 280z, with a 280zx turbo motor+driveline, SDS ECU, 60-1 hi-fi turbo, big front mount hidden from all the grill junk...
has some wheels and exhaust on it and sounds like any other 280z with an exhaust
had the power/grip to run mid 11s now he's putting a T66 on it with a head/cam upgrade, etc, etc... wants mid 10s out of it
