Default Plz help!!! 94 sc400 window regulator

Hello! Just got my first SC a month ago and I’m having a hell of a time trying to figure out what 400 regulators will work without modification as I cannot find my part #’s because they have been discontinued

I've done so much research (over 14hrs) and am getting burnt out.

I've learned from searching the forums and asking around on a Facebook group that
1.) SC300/400 are different lengths by an inch
2.) Not only does year matter but also production date of car (not sure how true this is)

I have a 94 SC400 with door sticker production date of 11/93. I keep getting told contradicting information that is making this extremely harder than it needs to be.

I’m told 92-94 will work, then they won’t because 94 has its own and possibly 2 different regulators depending when my car was produced. I’m told 94-00 will work then they won’t because series matters, series 1(92-93) series 2(94-96) series 3(97-00). This is all getting very confusing.

Someone asked for a picture of where it mounts inside the door and said any 2 stud regulator from a 400 will work because I have a third hole so the difference in years doesn’t matter as it’ll fit in the third hole and I won’t even have to drill a new one, which I’m not worried about. Drilling a hole is no big deal to me.

I’ve searched long and wide and haven’t been able to find any useful information as to what SC400 years are compatible with each other.

I really don’t want to sell the car because I can’t find a regulator as I’ve always wanted one and fell in love with the body at a young age.

THANKS FOR THE HELP

Where the first nut goes a few mm’s to the left is the third hole that will apparently work with other year SC400 regulators.

That's the first I've heard of there being a difference between 300s and 400s. I'm skeptical that that's true. There is a rarely documented difference in glass height and regulator travel, that if I remember right occurred somewhere in '95. So, to get your glass go down all the way, you want the glass and regulator matched from before or after that changeover.

As far as I know, all of the regulators mount up the same and have the same electrical connector. They all have the two studs up top you pictured, and a third one down at the bottom of the rail.

Thank you for the reply! Yes I actually just talked to someone yesterday who informed me the ONLY difference is the updated years.
92-early94 are compatible and exactly the same. Later94-00 have the updated regulator and glass, the only thing different about the glass is the mounting points where the glass connects to the regulator is longer and the regulator sits a little differently. The extra hole to the left in the picture above is where the 95+ regulator would bolt into. Since I’m bolted into the hole further to the right, I have the old version regulator and glass.
I was told a lot of contradicting information about how production date of car mattered but that only really applies to 94, since sometime in 94 they did the update. So depending what production date 94 you have, they can have either the new or the old regulator and glass. I lucked out with getting a 94 as it’s the only year that could have that problem lol

Mmm, you're talking about the regulator itself's bolt holes, not the rail portion that moves the glass? I've replaced '97-98 regulators, and I'm trying to think whether there were any differences in that respect to earlier ones... Seemed like they all bolted up the same, with three exposed studs instead of one in the recessed sticker-covered hole, but I'm not positive.

They are indeed different. You’ll need to lay hands on the one you have and the one you intend to replace it with or you’ll get the wrong one. There are pics showing the difference posted here in the forums and I’m sure it’s in the sticky at the top of the forum. Good luck!

Late reply, hope all is well. There is actually a ton of misinformation out there.
I put a 92 sc300 regulator in my 94 sc400 and it worked flawlessly. No differences what so ever. The whole myth about sc3 and 4’s being different is false, especially since they have the same part numbers.
The only difference I’ve come to realize is the updated glass, the window mounting points that bolt to the bracket on the regulator and the regulator itself. The glass and regulator changed in late 94. So if you have a late production date 94 compared to an early one, you could potentially have 2 different regulators and window. There are only 2 different regulators, and it’s to match the different glasses.

Question 94 SC400 - what window regulator did you actually use?

6HUND66 - I have SC400 with 12/93 production date (same production run as you) and need driver side window regulator, but still not clear what ones might work (drilling holes or whatever). I've found nothing that actually matched the spec'ed part number which is either 69802-24031 or 69802-24041 (w/motor). What did you end up purchasing? BTW - agree with you that SC300 and SC400 were no different in these days as far as this area.
