Only had my 97- 300 for about 2 months and already got me another squeeze! Lol.
I got this 92- 400 for $1200. Needs new head gaskets and radiator (replacement included with the car). 120k miles 1uzfe.
Body is fairly clean save for some rust at the base of the rear wheel wells. Headlights are swamps, tails very clean. Fogs and highs needs restoration. Hood and roof could use a repaint. Trunk struts shot. Front lip is trash.
Door panels getting SEM'd black and going in my 97. All wood trim and ac vents in excellent shape. Also going to my 97. Gonna wrap the wood glass black. See my build thread for more on that. Might use the seats as well.
Probably gonna patch her up and re-sell. Thoughts?
Needing new head gaskets (and radiator) seems rather abnormal for a 1UZ at only 120k. That doesn't point to particularly good PO maintenance, so I'd be concerned about overall driveline health. Don't pour too much money into it if you're planning to flip it, as the market is all over the place on SC's.
Looks rough, but if you have the cash, time and patience (and skills to fix it), so be it then.
I try to stay away from any car with any rust on them.
good luck
I totally understand where you're coming from. I went from no SC's at the beginning of the week to the end of the week I somehow ended up with 2 of them lol. Always keep my eyes peeled for those money pits. As far as flipping, unless you got an SC that is well documented and/or in above average condition, the restoration and resell is a little more difficult to make a profit. (depending on purchase price of course) However, as aforementioned, the market on these things are all over the place so you never know what may happen. Congrats on the new project!
I got this car cheap, so a flip for even minor profit is fine with me. If i address a few issues on the diy tip i could of course get more for it, but everything electric works even the power antenna. Actually has 180k miles. I'm stealing the door cards and front seats for my 300. I can't have another toy rn. Wife was ok hearing it's for re-sale. Here's some better shots with my door cards installed...
ahh, i see you have "the crack" on the driver's side window trim
Plan was to gut it and setup for sliding fun, but I honestly don't have the time.for 2 of these cars rn. I'm starting an addition to my house. I stole the door panels and passenger seat for my 300. Overall car has potential. $2k takes it!
