Default How to REBUILD your fuel pump ECU (Not the bypass but fix the part itself)

This guide will show you how to rebuild your fuel pump ECU, you will need two capacitors and a soldering iron.

Its pretty straight forward but you take the risk of damaging yourself and your car into your own hands if you do this fix.

Here is what you will see when you open it up for the first time, notice the large brown capacitor with a split in it that is what we will be fixing.

Here is the large capacitor you will need to get the specifications from your capacitors because they can be different. go on eBay and look up whatever uF and whatever v capacitor you find. In MY case it was 330uF and 50V but i have seen some use 820uF 50v so you will need to look at it. You may need to clip the leads as they do not de solder and rub the adhesive off with a fingernail to be able to read it.

this one is a 47uF 50v

Here is the new capacitor I soldered in before I cut the excess leads off

Here they both are soldered in, TAKE NOTE OF THE NEGITIVE SIDE OF THE capacitor its indicted by the gold stripe. They can only be put in one way, be sure to take pics before you take the old ones out it can save you later.

You are now done, just put on the extended cover if need be ill leave the stl link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4943406

Great writeup, great pictures, can't miss with this information. Very first writeup on this subject I have seen, I'll keep this.

Nice to see a write-up on this finally. There was a conversation about it a couple years ago ... I believe Tanin had said they're not serviceable (they service the main ECU's, so they're sort of the authority on the topic) and someone opened one up and found it to be a capacitor inside, so likely the same leakage issue. Then the topic went dead.

I take it replacing the capacitor got the fuel pump ECU working again? Nothing else needed attention?

Thank you for the write up on this. I’ve never seen someone attempt to repair the fuel pump ECU before.

Fixing the ECU is definitely cheaper than buying a new one.

Yeah its working great, im sure I could have gotten away with just replacing the big cap that was swollen but I figured why not do both while im in there. I have been daily driving it since I did it and no other problems or resurfacing of the crank but no start problem at all.
