One of the moderators (Kahnbb6) recommended Tanin and I had Tanin rebuild the main engine ECU for my 1992 5-speed SC300.
Tanin did a superb job. Unbelievable how strongly my engine now runs.
I was told that rebuilding the ECU would be a smart thing to do and I heartily agree. My engine module should be good for another 30 years.
Very glad that Tanin does this so well for a very reasonable price ($175).

theleme-- I'm glad it worked out well following the ECU repair! These cars are getting to the point that most of their ECUs need that kind of service as preventative maintenance even before encountering issues due to worn, bad or leaking capacitors. It's something that affects all manner of old electronics that use electrolytic capacitors.
Kira-- I'm having them repair my SC's gauge cluster now actually. My speedo and tach motors needed repair and I opted to go with their V4 needle lighting upgrade/repair including LED backlighting.

If the car is running fine with no issues then yes we rebuild them as a preventative maintenance service. We only rebuild problem ECU's that we can plug into our SC300 and SC400 test vehicles so it can be guaranteed in 100% working order.

I'm ready to jump on this, how do we go about it? I've also noticed the rebuild option is no longer available.

i think i remember some time back they posted an announcement on the website that they arent going to list the service anymore but you can still call them and ask for it to be done. I plan to rebuild my ECU, either through tanin or myself, over the winter holidays when i wont be needing to drive too

My gauge cluster is due for the whole restoration process….
As soon as the A/C challenges are resolved (compressor being replaced next month) then the gauge cluster is next in line….
Tanin rebuilt my climate display which is my spare if/when the Popformance unit fails…..
