boys im stumped on finding this upper bumper grill for a 97+
I keep seeing 53114-24900 but I'm pretty sure thats the lower grill?
Anyways I need an upper bumper grill for a 97+ thats worthy of going on a car getting a full respray. I sourced a nice 97 bumper and aero but the grill is gone. I've hit up people that were making them + checked all the SC fb groups im in / listings around me. If its the parts number above ive totally wasted my time searching around but I cant get any info on it. If any of you have a straight one you'd want to sell I really need one ASAP! thanks!

That part number didn't yield any results in the usual parts diagrams I use. This is what showed for a 1998 SC

The number you posted

Looks like the number I found changes up. Anyway both say upper grille.

97 is a mid year. It had certain 98+ improvements like the CCFL dash, but the upper grill didn't come along until the official 98+ which is why you can't find it. The 97's still had the 96 bodystyle. Very late 97 is the only chance to catch a crossover with the 98 body.

I assume early-'97 actually means mid- to late-'96 production dates. In which case, I wonder if some of them were actually mistakenly believed to be '96 models visually and by date?

S1: 06/1991-12/1993 ('92-94)
S2: 01/1994-07/1996 ('95-96)
S3: 08/1996-end (97-00)
I was under the belief that anything produced in August 1996 or later has the full 97+ body including the tail lamps and updated spoiler (if optioned).
I am aware that for USDM 1998 was the year that introduced the updated interior touches and (perforated leather, 3-spoke wheel, gated shifter) and mechanical changes (VVT-i, no 5sp for SC3 and 5sp auto for SC4) were 1998.
The last time I checked, the upper grill is out of production in Japan, tried to order one for a friend off Amayama. If you can find remaining local US stock, get one because they're no longer being made.

You can always try to refinish the grill yourself if it’s used (rock chips, paint fade etc. I actually have a new one sitting in a box I was gonna swap in, but I’m thinking I might just refinish my old one. Not sure yet, but if I decide to sell my grill I’ll let you know.
