Passenger door can be opened when locked

Passenger door can be opened when locked
My plastic tab for the handle broke inside the panel so I replaced it today. Now the handle is rubbing against the handle frame and if I pull 2-3 times on the handle the door will open even when it's locked inside. Guessing the rod is bent somehow?
Any ideas?
