The legitimacy of Sideways Performance
Hello everyone,
I live in the SoCal area and I am thinking of going NA-T on my 1998 SC 300. Since it's post-facelift, I have to swap the transmission as well and I would like to have a shop do that and the NA-T of it since I am not confident in that kind of work. There is a shop based in SoCal near me by the name Sideways Performace. They specialize in JZ motors and older Lexus/Toyota models. I've been to their shop and talked with the owner a couple of times, and the quality and value of their work look great. I was wondering if any other people living in SoCal have done business with them before, and have any reviews of their work?

^^ Moved from the SC300/400 Build Threads sub-section to the main SC300/400 section since this isn't a build thread
I've spent many years in SoCal in the Los Angeles area but I have not heard about Sideways Performance myself, sorry. I know that some current SC owners here must be familiar with them and their quality of work. Sounds like you got a good impression visiting them and vetting the owner yourself but you're doing the right thing checking with others as to their reputation if you are considering handing over your car for extensive tuning work
Have you also asked this same question on Supraforums especially in their Southern California subsection? There might be some MKIV owners there who are familiar with them in addition to any Clublexus SC owners.

Thank you for the response! I had not considered using the Supra forms. The shop also does work on the MKIII and MKIV chassis as well so I'll probably check that forum out.

I've been a member here for 21 years! I also got my MK3 fully built and engine swapped by Rob at Sideways Performance. Message me for any questions you have! I can definitely say they're the real deal! 👍🏻😎
