Default Pics of my new rollers

Yes, they are rubbing the fenders ... who ever said that no 18s would rub was dead wrong.
Please note, these are Bronze rims. They appear Gunmetal in the pictures, but they are bronze with polished lip. Even in person, they are so dark that they appear gunmetal until you get up close or shine light onto them, then you can see the bronze sparkle

Hope you like them as much as I do. I am overly-pleased.

*edit* here are some updated pics

Yes, I had it replaced in a week. You can also see my spare motor in one of the pictures (it is behind my spare 5SFE motor/tranny).

Nice wheels Angel, I especially like the polished lip.
But hey, where are your winter wheels and tires!?

Thanks. I have the stock rims sitting in another garage right now. If I need them, I will put them on ... but I plan on rolling on these for awhile First I need to learn how to roll fenders :-/

Nick,
Do you know what the offset of those back rims is? Apparently 265-275R18 rub on our cars then. Same situation with me. Is your car lowered at all. I'm on stock suspension but the ride height is lower than stock so I'm thinking the set-up is wore out. They only rub on sharp turns and big dips. Like you, I was thinking roll the rear panels or get a new suspension, but even a new suspension will rub if it is dropped I'd suspect. So I guess I'll start saving for some body work. Looks great by the way.

My red car had 265-35-18's on a +38 wheel out back and never rubbed. My silver one has 285-35-18's on a 10" +43 wheel and it makes contact, despite being told it does not rub on a Supra. I wil also be rolling/trimming Angel, soon as JBE Racing is done working their magic. I'd like to put my kit on @ the same time as doing the wheel arches, but i'll probably wait until Spring. Nick i'm assuming since you bought new rolling stock that you're keeping the whip, I don't want to hear any more of this for sale nonsense, ya heard?

You have 18" rims in the front with 245/40 tires? 245 is okay, but 40 profile? No wonder it rubs. I thought most people with 18" rims go with 35 profile. I have 245/45/17 in the front and they don't rub.

I've got at most a 2 finger gap front and rear and have no rubbing (knocks on dash) with 245/40/18 up front and 275/35/18 out back. I like having some meat on the sidewall, we have very bad roads here in MI.

PS, I can't see the wheels too well here at work. What type are they?

I think it's do to your tire size. When I had 18s on the car it was +37F ,+42R with a 265 in back lowered all the way down with teins and it never rubbed.

No way man. My tire combination is a very common tire combo. I think you need to do some homework on tires If you have 245/45/17 in the front, I bet you have 40s in the back ...

Regardless, my tires don't even rub in the front, that is not the problem. They rub in the back.

I also believe the offset may be the problem. I got +35. I am hoping to have everything fixed by tomorrow, with some better, daytime pictures.

*edit* BTW, I am rolling on stock Supra TT shocks with Supra TT Eibach Sportline springs.

*edit again* Lex Luther ... as for selling the car ... I am no longer pushing the subject, but if someone has $25k, I won't hesitate to let her go and search for a house again.

LOL. Not always the combo people go with but yes, my profile is 40 in the rear.

I thought they would rub in the front because you have 18" rims and 40 profile. I'm curious how close it would be to 17" rims and 45 profile. Also, is your car lowered?

When I had 285/40/17 in the rear they did rub just barly on the side wall. Currently my 275/40/17 are perfectly matched and I'm using Supra TT Ebiach kit (which lowers the car more than Lexus Ebiach kit). I would say you're right and it seems like a matter of offset.

Check my edit for my suspension mods.

I don't think it is going to require too much modification to make this work, but I have never rolled fenders before, and I am worried I will mess something up :-/ In fact, I am not entirely sure on how to do it at all ... so hopefully my first experience will be a good one.

In person .. with the +35 offset and the 9.5" rear, it is truely impressive. I hope that some daytime pictures will do a little justice.

I hope to someday get 255s in the front and 315s in the rear. Perhaps give the Goodyear Eagle F1 tire a try. It's aimed at super cars with 9" to 13" wide rims. Hopefully I won't have to bust too many U turns when that happens.

Chris
