I think my car is fast and agile, and that's not just for a ten year old car. I test drove the G35 and was tremendously disappointed in its lack of power and poor handling compared to my car. I always expect the newer cars to be better somehow, but for all the cars I've test driven in my spare time I've never felt compelled to replace my car.

However, proper upgrades are an absolute must in order to get the SC to perform the way most people want it to. A chip upgrade is important, many shops can do that for you - get it tuned on the dyno to match your car. Do Peter Scott's BFI intake upgrade - it works better than a tube & cone setup and costs you nothing but a few hours, and it's quieter. Get rid of the heavy exhaust, and put something light and good sounding on the car. Finally, and this really should be the first item, get new wheels - WIDE wheels. I had 17x8s all around, and the handling was good. When I put 18x9.5r/18x8.5f on the car, the handling was amazing. I can do instant lane changes at well over 100MPH, and the tail stays planted.

Many people on CL sing the praises of the car's good points, and are disappointed by the performance of the car. If you don't feel up to trying to find and convert an SC300 into an SC/Supra, then consider what I've said above. The car really doesn't need a supercharger to be satisfying to drive.

that's funny because i have a g35 and a sc300, my friend has a sc400 that i test drove and the g35 was a lot better than the sc4. i even raced both against each other. they were the same speed. i did 5 races from a dig and they were head to head. this was a 98 sc400 that i'm talking about. the g35 won 3 out of the 5 races. not by much though maybe by 1/4 of the car? so i wouldn't say the g35 is faster but they are about the same? Brakes? are you kidding me the g35 comes to a stop way before the sc4. the g35's stock brake system is awesome. suspension the g35 handles like a champ, the sc4 is nice but no in the g35's league. the sc4 feels like it's gonna flip if u take a turn too hard. the g35 feels planted on the ground. i always loved sc's but there is no way a sc can compete with a g35 in my book in preformance. just cause it's a v8 doesnt' mean it can beat the 2003's car of the year =x. the v8 has a lot of torque but so does the g35. u guys can flame me but i own both cars and have a close friend with a sc4 and he even admits the g35 is a better car.

Ok ok, so most of them were integras with a few TLs and TL-S mixed in, but 60-100 they really cant keep up.

Whoever said 0-60 in 6.9 seconds is "slow" now and "average" back in 92 isnt right. 0-60 in 6.9 back in 1992 was "incredibly good" and 0-60 in 6.9 now is "decent." Consider An Acura RSX, 3.2TL, CL, auroras, Q45, new Cadillac sevilles and eldos all do 0-60 between 6.5 -7 seconds... and they're all new. G35 sedans are hard pressed to get 0-60 as fast as us (the coupe is quicker)

Our top speed is very impressive also... many SC400 owners have topped out at over 150 mph, Ive heard a few reports of 152-155. If the SC400 had existed only 3 years earlier it would have been considered a supercar because of its top speed.

I must admit though, sometimes my car fails to impress me anymore (maybe about 25% of the time it doesnt) but alot of the other time it wows me still, especially on the highway, it pulls even in 4th gear.

I love pretty much everything aobut my SC but I don't like the open differential and how heavy the doors are. But all in all for the price I don't think you can't get a more luxurious smooth ride, with the good looks and decent power for than an SC.

there are certainly quicker cars, hell the WRX is faster, but let's talk about fast *enough* and doin' it in *style* - quiet, serene, absolutely reliable, timeless design. I will never take *ugly* to get *fast* - the SC was designed as a luxury car with enough performance - I haven't seen a performance car with more luxury - I go to the auto show and look at all that expensive new stuff, and happily go home in my 10-year-old SC - it could use better brakes, though - time for the TT upgrade!

I wouldn't take it that far, but it WAS (and for the most part, still is) a very impressive top speed.

Kay then, here's a problem for you....my SC4 got toasted by a Banana yellow Neon SRT-4 the other day...how embarrassing is it to lose to a Neon? Guys.... don't chime in on how quick they are, I know...friends of mine were making power with Chrysler's 4-cyl turbo motors years ago, but it's still a Neon, and this geek and his wife were all happy with themselves after they walked away from me in third gear. Enough power sc400-v8? Near supercar? I think NOT!

These are great great cars and compare favorably to alot of the competitor's '04 models, but the G35 is a good bang for the buck....just not my cup of tea, plasticky interior and they are a dime a dozen (no offense to the G and Z owners), but you do get alot for what you pay. In the end though, you'll be hard pressed to find a luxury car capable of such impressive performance with the right enhancements, you've just got to throw some money at it. When I start seeing Z's and G's on the street with Trust TT kits i'll start paying more mind to them ...

I LOVE my SC3; It's got great throttle response, and is quick...for being stock. Only gripes: need a tad more headroom (I'm 6'2"), and the backseat = non-existant. Don't even think about getting a good-size friend in it. In fact, and work that you have to do back there should be done by a shop jus to save your back. lol, jus my opinion... GREAT all around car, though!
