Chris

The cross is the only design cue they changed in the front bumper, as you know Chris yours and mine have the four vertical slats whereas the AC only has the one. You could trim it before painting it, but I like it and don't feel it'll be any obstruction to the intercooler.

Ever even seen it in person Chrono? Ali, lex400sc is spot-on as usual, Steve Ganz is the best source for AC, expect to pay around $2500 plus shipping....also prepare yourself for a long wait, each kit is built to order so it takes time...there's only four or five AC SC's in the states right now...took around seven months to get mine. Enjoy yours.
I got your sarcasm, but I didn't know you actually had the kit (no AC in your sig). I also didn't know jokingly calling you jealous would cause you so much agitation as to get back at me like this. I respect you as a CL member who has a lot of experience and valuable info about SCs, and I hope you do the same to other members on CL.

What's so funny about my thinking that AC kit looks bettern than JIC kit? It's my honest opinion and I'm sure more people think the same. And no I haven't seen the kit in person. Why, is it going to change my mind if I do? I don't think so.

Question

Kinda off subject but...
Lex, do you do all the custom install work to make your 6 3/4 speakers fit or have some1 else do it? It looks great! I've got a set of 6 1/2s I wanna put in, but have been waiting to figure out how. Please lemme know!

RST,
The AC kit looks very classy and subtle conforming to the original bodyline of SCs. Also it has a full rear bumper replacement instead of a lip like JIC.
However, JIC magic looks much more aggressive, imo. I feel I don't have the engine power to back it up.
If I had the extra $1500 I would have gone with AC.

I beg to differ my friend, and I would like to offer a suggestion.

There is a member named One Hot SC400 that has the JIC kit. His car is the first that I ever saw in person with JIC. Before then I did NOT like that kit. I am into subtle, accents (think Brabus) over more extroverted changes (think Lorinser F1). That being said, when I saw that JIC kit riding down the highway, I gained a NEW RESPECT for it. The car has a very sporty look to it, but the color of his car (silverish/blueish) really tones it down and smooths it out. In other words seeing it in person was really different from pics.

One thing to remember looking at a car in person is WAY better than looking at pics, the forms/lines/angles etc all jump out at you. I have yet to see the A/C kit INSTALLED (only saw those raw pieces that LL posted), but I imagine I will like it, as it fits into my plain tastes.

You never know you may see the JIC kit in person and hate it, and love the A/C in person, or vice versa!!

Good luck man, and let us know what you think once you see both!

DGOT20s

You are right. I guess I'll have to see AC kit in person. But I still think that i'll like it more than my JIC kit.
Here''s a recent pic of my car. I apologize for the crappy quality. It was taken with my cellphone cam.

Doing the 6 3/4" rears will require cutting some metal (but some smaller sizes fit once the plastic enclosures are removed from the deck), this took me some time...especially since you're right on top of the fuel tank and shooting sparks everywhere . I used a Dremel Pro, clearance is tight there and it allowed me to manipulate the speed while working in tight confines. The fronts will require you to remove the factory plastic enclosures and fab some baffles from MDF....look at the pics in my thread for reference.

Chrono, it's all good man...but you should see both in person as D said.
As for Auto Couture vs. JIC....I like them both, but my tastes are like DGOT's...conservative, i'm not much for the catfish front bumper on a luxury car. That's not aimed at anyone, but me personally I wouldn't have that JIC front bumper without a FMIC behind it to back it up, I think Chrono feels the same maybe. Also, tell me that JIC front doesn't want to scrape. By the way, the JIC kit won't fit properly on the '97-00 body, you'd have to use the older style bumper, that would not be cool. For me it was the T&E or the AC, and I felt the T&E skirts and especially rear just flared out too much at the bottom.

The JIC Magic kit is actually substantially thicker fiberglass compared with the Auto Couture kit. I think JIC is bullet proof. I know of a handful of members who have rashed their Magic kits hard with minimal damage.

I agree with all of the above... it's looks very classy and subtle, but I would want something just a hair more noticable, but not much at all. Like you, I don't have the power to back it up, either, but I will some day! (hopefully ) I also didn't know that the rear end was a clip and not a full bumber... that's definately something to consider.

Good to know.

Thanks a million. I'm hoping to get to this little project Sunday... I think I'm jus gonna stick with some 5.25" in the rear for now, mainly to avoid the hassle and b/c I already have a pair of 5.25s out of my Jeep.. Thanks again!

That's definitely true, the AC kit is so lightweight it makes me nervous.
