Lex, if I were you, I'd buy some fiberglass-based epoxy resin, a long strip of ABS plastic and build up the front bumper of the AC kit using both. At least at the bottom edge of the front bumper. A couple of guys have done that on their GSes here, and it is rock solid---I mean like 1/2" solid fiberglass! I did this on my window sill where the leather started cracking (actually the whole sill frame was cracked in half), and now it's the strongest piece of plastic on my whole car. Some of the locals have also made steel skid plates mounted to the chassis, which can ride parking blocks all day without touching the front lip. Just some ideas

As I said agflex, JIC rear add-on will not fit the '97-up rear bumper. Rich, i'll consider it, but that's extra weight bro! Skidplate doesn't sound bad for my style of driving though, maybe a pushbar too...
DGOT...it's not the bionic snail (have I told you I love that?), it's my bionic right foot man.

Luth, i dont think that extra 7 pounds will kill ya compared to the anguish of duct taping your AC kit to get it home the first time a freak accident from flying debris on the road takes a stab at it while your pulling 100+ testing out the silver bullet.
that resin weight is so minimal compared to buying a new nose piece you'll hardly notice it

And, yes the AC kit is glass and is somewhat thin...

Rich and lawman...i've spoken with a few ppl, including Steve Ganz who has the kit on his '97, no one has had any durability problems with the front bumper. It doesn't extend all the way out the front like the JIC kit does, the AC kit is much less of a scraper apparently. I really need to get off my @ss and put this kit on, but I want to finish up the motor first.

Usualy out in So Cal...you could be charged anywhere from 300-800 for install. It all depends on the kit. If you get a nice fitting kit (VERTEX, JIC, Do Luck etc.) then ou are prob looking in the lower end. But for the pain in the *** kits...expect to pay a pretty penny, due to the fact that the kit may have to be modded to fit properly.
As far as molding goes...I highly recommend NOT doing this. It kills the lines that the kit was intended to follow.
My thoughts...
