Default Who has the lexuspros or weapon-r ecu? feedback needed please

Hello

I'm in the market for an ecu...but wanted to get feedback from owners of either one.
I wanted to know the cost...benefits and drawbacks of the ones I know.

Lexus Pros
PROS
-distributed through Carson Toyota.
-reputable
-produces even power
-has products at reputable dealers and seems to be straight and honest
CONS
-a little far for direct consultation
-appears the guys are SELLING the business

Weapon-R
PROS
-Local and I can talk to the guys
-Has an accompanying cold-air intake
-Numbers indicate it produces more power than lexuspros
CONS
-irreputable company
-Bad relations with retailers in this area..they all recommend not working w/them. They don't carry their stuff
-Their intake is not smog certified and will get you a ticket
-Bad vibe I got from meeting them.

OVERALL cost of the ecu's is about the same. WR provides a cold-air intake to help add more power which is an additional cost.
I'd like to hear feedback from those who've purchase from either company and those who own and have either ecu.

your help is appreciated. Thanks.

The only information about WR we got was from Madmax awhile ago (maybe 1 to 2 years ago). He posted a dyno and I think he gained around 20 to 30 hp from the weapon r and intake. There is a dyno result of the lexuspros on their website. I think the only people who got these ecu's stopped posting here about 1 year ago (Chairmnofthbrd, hellasboy, and madmax).

I don't think the question to ask is which is better. Rather, you should ask if you can even purchase either of these ecu upgrades anymore.

www.weapon-r.com doesn't seem to list their ecu's anymore.
Also, Lexuspros was trying to sell their business awhile back so it might be run by different people now.

A safer route would be to go for a safc. Do a seach for VSsc400 and you will see his dyno results.

Default SC400-V8..so how does it work?

How much of an improvement do you see in your ECU upgrade?

I'm running the WR ecu. I thought it really brought my SC to life. I can definately feel a difference in acceleration. shifts more aggressively. Install only took about 1.5 hours. It can be removed and the bypass plug put in for road trips to get better gas milage or smog checks.

Only drawbacks are that you can't run nitrous or a supercharger. The timing advance will blow up the engine.

The thing to remember about ECU upgrades is that unfortunately the gains you get are not permanent. Once you upgrade the com. and put it back in, you calibrate it by running 0-100 mph a few times. The gains are there and are a total thrill for a few days after, but then it goes back to normal, the computer retards spark timing and fuel mixture to save fuel economy.... which is to some extent a good thing.

Whenever you need to go fast again, you pull a fuse in the fuse box, wait a few minutes, then plug it, and do the runs again, and you'll be fast for a while. It might be better this way because you lose at least 2mpg when it is working fully.

Let me just say 1st gear gains were incredible and instead of redlining and dropping the car into 2nd, it KICKS the car into second, so you end up leaving 1st gear at almost 50 mph!

A guy in a jetta challenged me to race this weekend, I might consider pulling the fuse and calibrating the car for saturday or something, or just be cocky and race him completely stock

Default Stock ECU

Can't you do the same with the stock ECU?

Yes, however it will be on a MUCH lesser level. There is no extra software to advance fuel mixture and spark timing in the stock computer, so there is more of a limit to how far you can go with that.
